5 simple steps to save your life. 1) Admit you are a sinner 2) Admit the the punishment of sin is death 3) Admit God sent His Son, Jesus to pay that penalty in your place 4) Confess out loud and in your heart, that God raised Jesus from the dead 5) Call on Jesus to save you.

@JohnnyLCKai Not complaining, but pretty sure she took it off so the wetsuit would insulate her from the floor so she doesn't get electrocuted also.

@exQUIZitely Well, I don't remember if Lucas Arts was involved, but there was an early Star Wars MMO called star wars galaxy and it was terrible.

Am I the only one wondering about this? One of the biggest mysteries to me will always be how a giant like LucasArts - with such a successful track record in the adventure game genre - never made a Star Wars-based adventure game. It feels like one of the lowest-hanging fruits ever: a match made in heaven. They held the rights to one of the biggest movie franchises in history while being one of the most respected and powerful studios in gaming, yet no proper Star Wars-themed adventure was ever made. (I don’t count Star Wars: Yoda Stories as a full-fledged game.) LucasArts Adventure Games through the years: Labyrinth (1986) Maniac Mansion (1987) Zak McKracken (1988) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) Loom (1990) The Secret of Monkey Island (1990) Monkey Island 2 (1991) Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (1992) Day of the Tentacle (1993) Sam & Max Hit the Road (1993) Full Throttle (1995) The Dig (1995) The Curse of Monkey Island (1997) Grim Fandango (1998) Escape from Monkey Island (2000)

BEEPING ELIMINATION DEEP THOUGHTS If you've seen my posts, you know that there's a phantom, faint but distinct, high-pitched "queep" that is sounding 4x/second. The sound is not the same as a smoke alarm losing battery - that has happened in the past, and it is just one louder beep every 60 seconds, not 4/second in a fainter sound like this. House is log/timberframe. There is no attic. It can't be heard in the downstairs bedrooms or bathroom. It can't be heard in the basement or the Mancave of Cold War Victory. It can't be heard in the upstairs bedroom. It is audible in the cathedral ceiling TV room. Also up the stairs to the balcony overlooking the TV room. Steps taken so far and result - Removed UPS for router. Beeping stopped for a few hours, then returned. De-energized the surge strip for the stereo/TV/apple box/DVD player. Beeping stopped for a few hours, then returned. Turned off the fan at the peak of the cathedral ceiling. No effect. De-energized the surge strip for the CO monitor. No effect. Dismounted new smoke detectors (each with 10-year battery). They're silent. No effect. Visited each older smoke detector. Beeps not coming from them. Anticipated future actions - 1. Maids come tomorrow. I'll ask them if they can hear it. (Trouble is, as seen above, it is intermittent, so it might just behave when they're here and return when they leave). 2. Once maids clear out, on Wednesday, I will switch off the house's main breaker. If that stops the noise, then the source is powered by house AC power. If not, it's a battery somewhere. 3. If the beep is AC-powered, restore the main breaker but open half the individual breakers. There's a right hand row and a left hand row in the breaker box. This should determine if the sound is powered by the left bank or right bank. 4. Once the sound source is noted to which breaker bank, shut all breakers and open one at a time in the applicable breaker bank. 5. Once the individual circuit is identified, figure out what is in that circuit. Perhaps find the bad actor that way. Note - the fact that this sound will stop after a human action but then return makes this troubleshooting a possible exercise in futility. The fact that intermittent problems resist troubleshooting is top of mind.

Um… I just remember walking the aisles looking at generally great movies trying to find movies to watch and it taking an inordinate amount of time. “No, I heard that was bad…” “I’ve seen it already…” “I don’t like that actor…” “GURPS Cyberpunk said it was good.” It wasn’t.
Paul Anleitner@PaulAnleitner

If Pizza Hut can return, then we can resurrect Blockbuster. And we should. While Netflix made things more “convenient” we lost something irreplaceable: The ritual of going to a place with your family or friends to choose a story together. That experience was special.

Johann Sebastian Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto for 2 harpsichords and orchestra No. 1 in C minor BWV 1060 (1736): it’s one of his most compelling double concertos. Probably adapted in Leipzig from an earlier version for violin and oboe, it combines Italian concerto style with Bach’s unmistakable contrapuntal depth. The two solo parts do not merely alternate: they intertwine, challenge each other, and constantly re-shape the musical argument. The outer movements are full of drive, sharp ritornellos, and brilliant exchanges between the soloists and orchestra. The central Adagio is the emotional heart of the work: luminous, suspended, and almost timeless, with the two harpsichords weaving a tender duet above the quiet strings. A masterpiece of drama, balance, and invention. youtu.be/dDrCB1GA_Wo?si… #Bach #BWV1060 #ClassicalMusic #BaroqueMusic #JSBach

James Madison described the powers of the federal government as “few and defined” and those reserved to the states as “numerous and indefinite.” We’ve been dangerously drifting from that understanding since the 1930s. The drift has been most evident in areas now most fraught with waste, fraud, and abuse. If we honored the Constitution’s limits on federal power, there’d be very little waste, fraud, and abuse in our national government. Share if you’d like to see a “constitutional reset,” in which any government function that’s not obviously and necessarily federal under the Constitution would be returned “to the states respectively, or to the people,” as the Tenth Amendment specifies.

Guys, this is insane. So the beeping and queeping came back. A 4x/second beeping noise. Very faint. Can't localize it. I put my ears right up to the UPS unit for the router. Quiet as a mouse. But before the brute force method of one breaker at a time, I just decided to switch off the UPS and stow it in my closet. No beeping. But then, beeping stopped yesterday when I switched off the entertainment equipment. A couple hours later? Beeping. I swear. The Ice Station is haunted.
Michael DiMercurio@MikeyDiMercurio

Serious problem at Ice Station Mercury. Crowd-sourcing this. For the last 6 days there has been a high-pitched repeated beeping noise (a "queep") but not like a smoke detector. Pulse repetition rate is 4x/second or 240x/min. Very faint but very distinct. Almost like a cheap alarm clock sound. Actions taken: 1. De-energized ceiling fan in cathedral ceiling. Fail. 2. Unplugged water reverse osmo unit. Fail. 3. De-energized surge strip to wifi router and UPS. Put my earballs right up to the equipment. Fail. 4. Smacked around the refrigerator like cornfed Fred teaching Zelda a lesson. Fail. 5. Visited all 3 bedrooms and put earballs to the alarm clocks. Fail. 6. Visited the basement. Pin-drop silence down there. 7. Visited the Mancave of Cold War Victory. Checked printer. Unplugged a vintage alarm clock. Fail. 8. Visited laundry room. Both machines quiet. Fail. 9. Pulled the new 10-year battery smoke detectors out of their mounts and put them right at my laptop. They are quiet as mouseys. Fail. 10. Visited all smoke detectors. All quiet. Fail. 11. De-energized the surge strip powering * TV * apple TV box * VCR * bigass stereo. (Results pending due to washing machine noise pollution at the moment.) Now, after all this, I'll be opening the Station's master breaker to see if this noise is AC-powered. If the noise stops, it is AC-powered. If not, it's running on a battery that has to die at some point. If the master breaker opening stops the noise, then I will re-shut the master breaker and I'm going to open one breaker at a time to isolate the source. It makes me wonder if I somehow got hacked, because this noise is making me fookin crazy. Any ideas?

Unlike some of Beethoven’s other symphonies such as the Third and the Fifth, which we now regard as great works but were initially resisted to some degree by the composer’s contemporaries, the Viennese audience immediately embraced the Seventh Symphony, and considered it among their favorite orchestral works. Its huge popularity led to three performances in the ten weeks following its premiere.  The second movement—Allegretto—was particularly loved, leading to outbreaks of applause before the third movement during a number of early performances. The Allegretto remained widely popular throughout the nineteenth century, and even today is often performed separately.

The biggest red flag brokers need to look for is English Language Proficiency violations. If the carrier doesn’t care whether or not their driver understands English, they really don’t care about anything else. I expect activity among carriers with ELP violations to nosedive.
Wall Street Mav@WallStreetMav

The US Supreme Court ruled that freight brokers could be held liable for carrier accidents just the other day. It is already having an impact in the market. Trucking companies with a poor record for safety (usually hiring 3rd world drivers) are getting eliminated quickly.
