ok whattt "openai plans a limited rollout of its new model to a small group of companies, with no public release planned" still hoping for a new model or omni model, maybe gpt-5.5 or gpt-5o but it looks like both anthropic and openai are doing PR stunts around their internal models, "mythos" and "spud"

@DaveShapi I think because of all of the safety / legal concerns, llms just regurgitate safe mainstream narratives. It definitely doesn’t feel like an objective wise-thinking partner anymore. If anything it just feels extremely placative and condescending.

I've basically stopped asking all AIs for advice. Partly, I think it's that AI has changed. They are all more circumspect, less direct than they could be, and also less insightful than they used to be. But I wonder if some of that is just that I've matured and grown, and need less advice, and learned that the AIs all have limitations. They can still do pretty well for dream interpretation, but I feel like I've almost internalized the AI's way of thinking, so instead I almost just imagine asking the AI for help, interpretation, or advice, and then my brain just sort of simulates what the AI would say and that's good enough. Anyone else feel this way?

When people ask me "do you really think that as soon as AI can do your job, they'll lay you off?" Yes. It is literally their fiduciary responsibility to do so.

@Sp1derm4n @DaveShapi I agree, but would add that, I believe most distinctive markers are only being caught because people are actively looking for them. I’d argue, other than extremely notable hallucinations, many wouldn’t have to freeze frame a police car to prove it actually said “poce”.

@EmptyTrail @DaveShapi Done today, many/most would likely see through it, as the "distinctive markers" of AI-generation will be plentiful (e.g., morphing limbs). In some future wherein it's not so easy to spot it, I bet you'd catch a lot of AI haters enjoying generated content. That bias is real, frfr.

It's less than 36 months. I wouldn't be surprised if it's by end of 2026

@DaveShapi I’d actually love an experiment where something is said to be real, but it’s actually AI. I bet many who would say “AI Slop” and that it’s so horrible, would experience it completely differently. It’s a mental bias in my opinion.

@DaveShapi I think the biggest resistance is subconsciously. What people “believe” about the art plays a huge role in the acceptance of it. While AI could objectively create something exactly on par, I feel a large majority will dislike it once they know it’s AI.
