@cralievnr When I did have a job, I had an aunt who made a snide comment like: “isn’t it nice to finally have a job?” She said it in front of so many of my relatives, and it was embarrassing. I lost that job, and I don’t ever want to go to family gatherings. Period.

@internetarchiva I had a flip phone with a virgin mobile top card back in high school. Couldn’t afford those fancy sidekicks with the keyboards. So every time I sent a text, it cost so much money lol. Even calls. I still miss those times, though.

@EmsterJean @kokesque @chrstinedaaemon Yeah what will also suck (esp. if you have progressive politics) is being the employee that has to withhold medication from someone and tell them their insurance didn’t go through

@kokesque @in2gr8in @chrstinedaaemon I think it’s the customer service aspect of it that sucks. Whenever I pick up my meds, there’s always at least one or two elderly people arguing with a poor pharmacy tech about insurance (and the customer is clearly in the wrong too).

@caraksha103 I had to cut off a friend who’d constantly interrogate me about how I got my office job and if there were any openings. Later found out she asked my other friend the same thing for her job. Never liked her energy, and I can imagine how she is in a workplace environment too.

@miyawakissme Thank you for talking about selective mutism. I don’t hear about it enough. Suffered through it from pre-k up until freshman year of high school. You can imagine the sheer amount of bullying from kids and misunderstanding from teachers during that period.

just watched a documentary about selective mutism and was reminded of my first day working in a preschool where the teachers said this one girl doesn't talk but my introvert ass just sat in the corner and observed her and noticed she loved her stuffed polar bear so i asked her

@m_i_s_f_i_t_94 I was pressured to go up to catch the bouquet because I was one of the very few single women at the wedding venue. There were only maybe 10 other women and ofc the bouquet flew straight to me. I didn’t want to catch it but I knew it would look bad if I just dodged 🫠
