The Rohingya are a Muslim minority originally from Rakhine State in Myanmar. For decades they have faced discrimination, statelessness, and violence. After the 2017 Rohingya genocide, more than a million Rohingya were forced to flee and now live mostly in refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh. During Ramadan, many Rohingya families struggle even more because they have no stable income and depend on aid for food. Many vulnerable families find it difficult to get enough meals for iftar and suhoor. Rohingya also face serious challenges worldwide, including lack of legal status, limited education, language barriers, discrimination, and lack of awareness about their crisis. These conditions make daily life and survival very difficult for the community. A donor has said they will match any donation, up to $100, including small amounts, based on what we raise today.
