But soft, what Jock through yonder Twitter tweets? Likes are declarations of undying fealty. Retweets unconditionally endorse entire belief systems.

@Mytonyme @PulpLibrarian Good point: I'd always thought that PWEI were the first of that particular series (by a few months from the Beloved) but REM did get there in '87.
English

@EndiePosts @PulpLibrarian Also REM with its the end of the world as we know it

Pop Will Eat Itself: Can U Dig It? (1989). "Alan Moore knows the score."
The 'Stourbridge Scene' was dubbed Grebo by the NME, with bands like The Wonder Stuff, Ned's Atomic Dustbin and Pop Will Eat Itself lumped together under a kind of indie-electro-funk-rock-psychedelia tag. That's slightly unfair as PWEI has a pretty wide range of sounds and an impressive back catalogue of tunes.
Can U Dig It? may not have troubled the charts much, but every student bar in '89 would have it on the jukebox. Woe betide you if you didn't know every name dropped in the song!

@TheExtremeMusi1 The fastest 5k I ever ran had a lot to do with Justice coming up on my Spotify playlist. The track was Stress and it pumped me up into a running frenzy.
Great video, too.

@hitchfan1 @JimSlaven It’s a super-useful phrase you can use a lot and it certainly reminds me, personally, not to jump into a bunch of arguments where I have no real hope of persuading nor really of being persuaded, either of which is a good outcome.
English

@EndiePosts @JimSlaven Always dangerous to second guess the great man. And, this only works on the assumption that both parties have taste... 😉 Thanks for that though, I'd not heard that before
English

@hitchfan1 @JimSlaven I’m afraid, my friend, that Hitch would have remembered that de gustibus non est disputandum.
English

@EndiePosts @JimSlaven It's an incredibly powerful piece of acting. You've no idea what you're talking about.

@narendramodi So the Hindi leader of India is more respectful of our Christian heritage and culture than the King of England. Amazing.
Thank you Mr Modi. You are a credit to your country and your people.

@thesundaysport Is this an Artemis reference or a quote from an Orb track?

@kezwilliams13 Mark E Smith showing once more why he was considered the patron saint of punching above your weight class.
English

@pokemondundee @WHLeavitt So you instinctively stand solidly with the rapist? Ok, that says a lot about you.
English

@WHLeavitt Looks like a bastard gun happy cop with no clue about how to police. Id say the copper should be looked at as a fucking criminal piece of shit.
English

@PulpLibrarian I saw PWEI a bunch of times in places like the Barrowlands. Amazing live action and the loss of their sequencer/sample tapes was a disaster.

@MihirFx @sbwalker5 @KieraDiss Lawl I manage scores of software engineers and not one of them approaches you in solipsistic stupidity.
English

@sbwalker5 @KieraDiss I am software developer and that's what allow me to think differently and all possible options. I don't follow Herd.
Next time think independently it will help you build better perspective

@MihirFx @KieraDiss Sorry to hear that your meds have run out on the holiday weekend.

Respect for the Car Driver 👏👏👏
Though its completely wrong to do, I can understand his frustration with the VAN driver. VAN is in wrong lane and blocking and slowing down lots of traffic. This is something police should enforce but sadly member of public had to do it at his own risk.
If you are not overtaking or going slow then you must be in left lane.

Might bid to become head of the Church of England, what with the post being vacant

🚨BREAKING: Buckingham Palace has confirmed King Charles will not issue an Easter message this year

@weehendo75 The first time I got onto that at Drum St, Gilmerton thinking it would be the same route as the 3, 31 and 33 was a long lesson until I got back.
English

@TreborRhurbarb And I say this as someone who first saw NiN in Glasgow on their Pretty Hate Machine tour at King Tut's in 1991, so this is not hater material. But he just saves the good bits for the second half of his songs.
English

@TreborRhurbarb I'm going to put myself in the firing line here and say that it's something Trent Reznor made track after track out of: a long, kinda mundane intro and verses that would last for several minutes, then BLAMMO! An amazing chorus. youtube.com/watch?v=4xg-Wk…

I quite like the contrast between the "good bit" and the "crap bit"

Pulp Librarian@PulpLibrarian
Babylon Zoo: Spaceman (1996). Originally used for a Levi's jeans ad in 1995 after a rare demo version was played on a Manchester radio station - that's how we rolled in the '90s! This was the only real hit for the Wolverhampton indie rockers when it was released the following year. Top 10 across all of Europe, No 1 in the UK, France and Germany, and then they faded away...

@bunothanboy @alexmassie To be fair, it's only ginger in Glasgow, Ayrshire and surrounds.
