@denyse__allen @AGESgenealogy Thanks for the interest! We’d have enjoyed seeing you there. I hope you’ll still find a way to participate virtually even if it’s in watching the recordings that’ll be available afterward. For future reference, AGES usually does the conference RootsTech week in SLC since 2020.

@AGESgenealogy It’s a shame this wasn’t announced back in the fall before I made my travel arrangements for RootsTech. Would have liked to participate. Hope it’s a great event!

@ClarkGilbert I celebrate this for African students, but you haven’t tweeted an apology to the countless students who’ve been unable to continue due to major glitches with Pathway registration and other issues. Many have quit in despair. Please show them you understand their suffering.

@holtsfamilyhis1 @AGRAGenealogy @FamilyTreeDNA Especially initial descendancy research although I had done much of that already over the years. There is the multiple efforts to contact people. I’d check who is already on a big genealogy site, later letters if they didn’t check their messages online or weren’t on those sites.

Doing my dissertation is alternating between new levels of burnout and joy. On one hand zoning in to writing, enjoying research, and feeling inspired by the work of others. On the other hand dreading work left to do to the point of shutdown for days at a time. Still grateful.

@RootsTechConf A focus on bringing in scholars and professionals of overlapping fields like archives, public history, oral history, etc. so the general public who attend can see how these fields contribute to the genealogy space. Like a behind the scenes view and to promote more collaboration.

Put these up where people could see and the first people inspired were my kids. They went to count their medals from 5k’s we’ve done together, and my son said “I want to get more medals so I can be like dad.” I went from obese to inspiring health. #WorthIt #FeelsGood #Fatherhood

We had a great discussion in the @APGgenealogy board meeting today. Board service is a big commitment, but it can be fun and fulfilling when you play the part in helping the organization grow and give valuable input alongside equally dedicated volunteers. #genealogy

I wasn’t sure what to expect @ncph, but I’m having a good time. I mostly met everyone for the first time although Kate and I recognized each other from a class we had together at @mtsuhistory

Here are out our students Abby Coomes, Kate Hughes, and Alexis Matrone at the @ncph poster session today. It was so much fun going through the hall and listening to each presenter share their enthusiasm for their projects.

@JoyfulRepenter Family History is doing great work with AI, not just the example Jon showed today. We are automating indexing in many languages, not just OCRing the content but having it recognize entities (surname, DOB). After limited human curation, it is available for patron use.

Those familiar with my @ReclaimTheRecs work in Maryland might recall this organization has indexing projects for Maryland marriages.

Although not officially at #RootsTech during it a wonderful transcription organization spoke about their AI in a webinar. It’s now viewable online. What a cool application! “AI Assist in FromThePage: Using HTR in People Centered Transcription” youtu.be/f4xp5BYpB04?si…
