He scoffs— Half entertained, half relieved in a strange sense he couldn’t quite voice. “Careful. I’d almost start believing you have some faith left in me.”

“Who better to lead the psychos than someone who used to be one of them?”

“Exactly.” Those ‘murderous crazies’ were the exact key to his plan. “Hear me out, Rosita. Right now, someone back home has to stand on guard for those assholes at all times, right? What if… Someone manages to leash them, so to speak?”

“I didn’t say that.” There it is— That cheeky ‘up to no good’ smile of his. “I’m sayin’ we rebuild it. We improve it. No more of that…” He paused, pursing his lips. “Lead with fear bullshit. We work together, and I get to sleep without risking a knife in my throat.”

“Maybe.” He agreed, a scoff following his own words. “But it could also be the beginning of something even more awesome. Think about it. I can’t live with you people without having to keep one eye open at all times.”

And I’m pretty sure it was thriving, before Rick and the whole potpourri of pathetic came along and stole my shit. But… Water under the bridge now and all that.
