Abu Hanifa’s madhab is as far as China in the east and Bosnia in the west.
The last two great muslim empires were both Hanafi (Ottomans and Mughals).
The first codified legal system was primarily Hanafi.
Where are the madhabs of Sufyan al-Thawri, al-Awzai, Layth, the basrans like Hammad Ibn Salamah, Dawud al-Zahiri, etc? They are dead!
The Hanbali madhab exists in tiny pockets with more online larpers than real world adherents!
Who were Abdullah Ibn Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Nuaym Ibn Hammad, Ibn Abi Hatim, al-Khatib al-Baghdadi, etc, compared to Yahya Ibn Sa’id al-Qattan and Yahya Ibn Ma’in?
When Yahya Ibn Ma'in was told about those who spoke against Abu Hanifa, he would say:
'They envied the prime man when they could not achieve his efforts... for the people are his opposites and rivals.'
'Like the co-wives of the beautiful woman who said about her face... out of envy and spite, saying that it is ugly.'"
