My last contribution on how to (so-called) decolonize IR (in @millennjournal)! The first baby step is to decenter the Western gaze in our syllabi: -> 54% mention the Cold War, 8% de/colonization -> 92% realism, 14% race studies -> 32 U.S. leaders mentioned, 0 from Africa

Hey there #Academic Tweeps, Please hit me with a reason why you and your students wouldn't be successful without your library. We're having ours cut cut cut and I can't help but think that this will cause a migration of students to other #HigherEd schools. I need my library to....

I strongly dislike the idea of "the intergenerational transmission of poverty" as if poverty is a disease. Instead, it's the "consistent passing of laws/policies reducing poverty to an individual's moral/character flaw." Poverty is a policy decision!

It's February 1st! Y'all know what it is on this side. Here's a few #BlackHistoryMonth tips: 1. start w/ love, humanity, & understanding 2. lead from a stance of Black joy & excellence, our story didn't start in slavery 3. ALWAYS capitalize the 'B' in Black #OntEd #EdChat

The safest communities are the ones with the most resources, not the most police. We can't police our way out of poverty, homelessness and food insecurity.

Going to say this again: Policing addresses crime after it happens, it doesn’t prevent it. If we want to prevent crime AND build more compassionate communities, we need to invest in housing, mental health, education & healthcare. Invest more in our communities. Not policing.

If capitalism could "solve" poverty, it would have already. Rather it creates, sustains, and criminalizes poverty.
