@chilternrailway So why do half term promotions then? (A comment by another passenger who was travelling with children and regretting it.)

@chilternrailway why only three carriage long trains during half term? This isn’t even the first off peak service to London. I got on at Banbury. Also the heating is on. 🙄

Just stumbled across a piece I wrote years ago in my former life. Seems odd. High comforts at home on the range ft.com/content/7d796d… via @ft

Have you been through Harecastle Tunnel? I have several times. Most recently last month. Do you think it would be a good idea for @CanalRiverTrust to loan a hard hat to whoever is at the tiller? Or would that be 'elf and safety' gone mad?

@SHarveyAuthor Congratulations. I bought the Audible version a few hours before the result was announced. However, I'm sorry to say that I've returned it for a refund. The writing seemed wonderful but the narrator really lets it down. Can someone redo it please?

Sad to read that Timothy West has died. He and his wife Prunella Scales were great champions of the inland waterways.

Thanks @EnglandByBoat for explaining the need for the #FundBritainsWaterways campaign in your excellent article in @Telegraph There is a real danger of our #canalsandrivers falling back into dereliction.

@IWA_UK @PennineC I mentioned the deteriorating state of the waterways and your campaign in my latest piece in the Telegraph. #comment" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">telegraph.co.uk/travel/destina…

@nb_Snowgoose That's very weird. OK if you have a permanent mooring with one side that you don't much like the view and the other that you do...

'I sold my house by accident when I was drunk – now I live on a narrowboat' telegraph.co.uk/travel/destina… In case you're wondering, the headline - not my choice - refers to a boater I met on my travels.

@JohnnyM05000440 @CRTBoating @CRTNorthWest Thanks. There’s been an emergency stoppage just before a scheduled one. 🙄 I was on schedule to get through before the Nov 4th scheduled stoppage but now this has put a spanner in the works.

@CRTBoating @CRTNorthWest Do you know how likely it is that Audlem flight will be passable next week please? I can’t make it to get through this weekend.

Thanks to my friend @GabrielSterne for the photo of me at the tiller, on the beautiful twisty stretch between Foxton and Leicester.

(One of?) the first uses of 'gongoozler' in print dates to 1904, in the glossary of Bradshaws Canals and navigable rivers of England and Wales. It also appears in the glossary of Rolt's 'Narrow Boat' (1944) but where is it in the text? Can anyone point me to the sentence please?
