I’ve always loved the way language is punctuated by places: jeans are ‘from Genoa’, denim is from Nîmes in France, suede from Sweden, mayonnaise from Minorca’s Port Mahon, damask from Damascus, sardines and sardonic from Sardinia, and spruce (both the tree and a neat appearance) from Prussia.

The English dept will be in the canteen from 8am tomorrow ready to support you with any final Unit 2 Lang questions, Year 11. (And then access your English teacher during lesson time next week to make sure you are fully prepped for Unit 3!)

The poet John Masefield was born #OTD 1878. Taking exams or assessments this week? Remember - it's important to give your brain a break afterwards, rather than re-live it by comparing answers on social media or with your friends. Reward yourself by doing something non-exam related before you jump back in to revision! 😊
