Then you list some maps, the middle one says the "British Isles" on it. The Empire you keep going on about isn't and never was a geographical archipelago. You can't grasp the difference between geography and sovereign country states. RoI is a sovereign state country recognised by the UN and is not a part of the UK. The country of the RoI and four countries that are the UK (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) are all situated in the group of islands called the British Isles. Great Britain geographically refers to the largest island of the British Isles. Great Britain politically has Scotland, Wales and England on it's land mass. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Norther Ireland is a union of 4 countries. Ireland, the second largest island of the British Isles has the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland on it's land mass. With the RoI being a separate country from the other countries within the British Isles.

Geographically, one of the islands of the British Isles is Ireland, that has two countries on it's land mass, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Just like how Canadians are American, they are of the Americas, they aren't citizens of the United States, but are Canadian citizens from Canada that is in North America that is in the Americas... What is there not to get?
