Communication is a versatile soft skill. When you have the ability to convey your messages clearly, while being an active listener, as you read the room, chances are, you may be developing your communication skill. Furthermore, it is a defining character quality, rooted in empathy, transparency and integrity. When there is effective communication, trust is built and necessary or needed change happens smoothly.
