Let’s be honest with ourselves. If I was closing up on 40 years of age, with two ongoing PhD(s),… yet the only thing they remember me for and invite me to on a public place as important as Twitter is “dragging and bullying people,”… honestly, I would be very ashamed of myself. That even goes too far. I am currently in my mid-20s, a first-degree undergraduate and final year student, but I would never settle for such a dirty attribution and image Salako has earned himself on this App. Since last year when I called out Union of Campus Journalists, UCJ Unilorin on Twitter, and shortly after my account went Premium in December 2025, many of my colleagues from here have always tried conferring the “banger boy” tag on me — which I strongly refused to accept. (Search my page for “banger boy”). Whenever I meet random students on campus who claim to know me from Twitter, I get anxious to find out what era of SOBUR they know, and what they know me for. I told every single person never to call me a “banger boy”: the reason for which is obvious — banger boys are mostly clout chasers. Yes, it works for many people and they make money off it. But I am: • A professional-in-the-making; • A leader for pharmacy students at both the National level (an unprecedentedly impressive ex-PRO and current Vice President), and at the University level (the current President of Unilorin Pharmacy); • Nigeria’s Pharmacy Student of the Year, 2025; • A successful debater and serial winner within and outside the University; • A prolific writer; • A public health advocate; • I have mentored and influenced many lives (directly and indirectly) in the fields of writing, speaking and debating, public relations/publicity, leadership, career, entrepreneurship… …and many more!!! All of these, yet I should allow people summarize my identity into “BANGER BOY” — that’s shameful and demeaning. So, I reject it vehemently. Unfortunately, seeing someone like Uncle Ayo take pride in having such a reputation, despite his age, profile, and acclaimed mentorship of “over 10,000 students” (which is an unproven lie)… makes me realize how much of self-worth I actually have, and the insane determination to protect my little pedigree. I would rather remain unknown forever than be known as a shameless biased bully whose only popularity is built on dragging other people down. I may be stubborn and sometimes brutal with my convictions, but I have plenty of shame and a lot of self-worth. Because… I am SOBUR || Ọmọ Afáríogun. ✍️
