Please be aware that following the local Proclamation for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead the town is especially busy. Road closures in Windsor town centre have now been lifted, but please check before you travel.

Thank you to the thousands of people who attended our local Proclamation for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead earlier today. Further photos of this historic ceremony will follow later this afternoon, along with a video for those who couldn't attend in person.

The local Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Proclamation is taking place today, close to the Queen Victoria statue in Windsor, at 12.30pm. The viewing area is limited but we will share video footage so that the whole community can witness this historic moment.

Please be aware that we’re expecting Windsor town centre to continue to be busy this weekend following the sad passing of Her Majesty The Queen. All council-owned public car parks, except for Romney Lock and Home Park, are currently open but have limited availability. 1/2

King Charles III will be formally proclaimed monarch at the Principal Proclamation in London. The Union Flag will be raised to full mast at the Town Hall, Guildhall & York House & stay at full mast until 1pm Sun 11 Sep when the regional proclamations will have happened. 👇1/2

If you are visiting Windsor to leave a floral tribute to Her Majesty The Queen, please ensure that you remove any plastic packaging from the flowers and leave them outside Cambridge Gate at the top of the Long Walk, as directed by stewards.
