Great piece — @coeff_giving is already funding work on improving and accelerating clinical trials and FDA review but I think delays in LMIC regulatory approvals are a big deal. Would love more people to be working on this problem!

The US approved tenofovir for HIV treatment in 2001. It was only approved in South Africa in 2005, despite South Africa’s far larger burden of disease. The African Medicines Agency is attempting to reduce these delays. @EnlliMcA explains both the promises and pitfalls in @indevmag: indevelopmentmag.substack.com/p/can-africa-r…

It was such a wonderful experience writing this with the @indevmag team! They’re a lovely, thoughtful bunch to work with, and if you’re considering pitching them something, you absolutely should! indevelopmentmag.com/pitch/

Nothing is certain except death and regulation @EnlliMcA's piece today touches on both. 55 countries, 55 regulators, 4–7 year delays on life-saving drugs. How do you solve a regulatory commons? What did the East African pilot get right? Can it scale? tinyurl.com/48zerf76

Back in 2015-16*, in Dhaka, I used to take a 2-hr walk back from the office in the evening because it would have taken longer by any motorized transport. So this is close to my heart; dropping tomorrow @indevmag. *I hear it has probably gotten worse.

This week in @indevmag: in 2014, Jakarta was crowned the world's most congested city. In the last decade, it has also added *ten million* new residents - a perfect recipe for yet more gridlock. And yet the traffic has improved. Nithin Coca explains how: indevelopmentmag.com/jakarta-transi…

Less than 20% of the population had access to transit in 2015; now 90% do. Jakarta has one of the most used bus rapid transit networks in the world. How did they do it? Nithin Coca explains in @indevmag: indevelopmentmag.com/jakarta-transi…
