One Avengers: Doomsday trailer was enough to make us feel like Dune 3 is about to get absolutely smoked on 12.18

> ask 5.6 Sol Pro to build a 3D multibody simulator > it implements rigid-body dynamics from scratch > quaternion integration, OBB collision detection with 15-axis SAT contact and friction via sequential impulses > revolute-joint constraints > PD torque motors and a 12-joint quadruped controller > compiles the whole engine to WASM renders it with WebGL > gives me a working standalone HTML simulator one prompt this is getting ridiculous

Really disappointed to hear all the hate regarding the new Steam Machine. It’s quite capable! My unit can even run most games at 4K 120FP4S. Gabe Newell would really like to acquire his next superyacht so please buy it.

@spyderms @SnazzyLabs it was supposed to be but didn't happen otherwise would've justified this. linus just made a pc which give 2x the frame rate in same price so it make no sense to buy this at all.

This is a new paradigm for interacting with Claude that is significantly more "inline" with all the other human activity org-wide. Once you do all of the under the hood engineering work to make this "just work" (e.g. across tools, integrations, compute environments, memory, security, etc.), Claude basically joins the team in a seamless way - you can talk to it as you would talk to a person and it can help with a very large variety of workloads. Imo this is the 3rd major redesign of LLM UIUX. The first paradigm was that the LLM is a website you go to, the second was that it is an app you download to your computer. This third one is that it is a self-contained, persistent, asynchronous entity with org-wide tools and context, working alongside teams of humans. It really takes a while to wrap your head around it, but it works and it is awesome.

Scientists have achieved the restorative benefits of deep sleep in awake mice, without them actually sleeping. In a groundbreaking study published in Nature Neuroscience, researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison used optogenetics, a technique that uses light to control genetically modified neurons, to induce slow-wave “on/off” patterns characteristic of non-REM sleep in localized regions of the animals’ brains. Sleep-deprived but active mice that received this artificial stimulation performed as well on memory and learning tasks as fully rested mice. The results support the idea that specific neural activity patterns, rather than unconsciousness itself, drive synaptic restoration and cognitive recovery. This discovery suggests it may one day be possible to develop targeted therapies that counteract the effects of sleep deprivation and help treat cognitive decline in humans. [Driessen, K., Squarcio, F., Tononi, G., & Cirelli, C. (2026). Induction of cortical on/off periods in awake mice fulfills sleep functions. Nature Neuroscience]
