Exactly. No serious coach will agree to work under a group of SDs, not just one SD. A coach can accept one SD that he respects and has a working relationship with—someone with whom he can have an open argument and reach a common understanding. Telling a coach to answer to 5 SDs is nonsense. If the owners can't dismantle that circus of SDs, they should hire a technical director who will work closely with the coach. The technical director will work the SDs, but the coach will only answer to the technical director. That's it.

If you are going for a young manager, go for one who has a good record in coaching and a legend as a player. Respect is a big thing in football, especially at a big club. Players and fans respect and believe in big names. My problem with Chelsea is that, it feels like our SDs are scared of big egos because they are usually not "collaborative", which is BS in my opinion. Any coach that is high level as a former player and as a coach will have ego about him. You need his expertise not to be your 'yes man'. Maresca achieved something and started standing up against certain issues. That's just normal and human nature. They will be like, "if you don't value me, I will go elsewhere." We need to fix that mentality or else we won't be able to hire a good coach or if a nobody comes in and becomes somebody, he will leave. And the cycle continues.
