🧵The cenotes in Mexico These freshwater pools are the result of the collapse of limestone caves. In the Yucatan Peninsula alone, there are over 6,000 cenotes. There are open cenotes, semi-open ones, and completely closed ones, underground, and each of them has a different habitat. 📷Cenote Ik Kil

Tadmor prison, situated in Palmyra, eastern Syria, 200 kilometers northeast of Damascus, gained notoriety for its harsh conditions, human rights abuses, torture, and summary executions. Originally built as military barracks during the French Mandate, it housed political and criminal prisoners. In 2015, ISIL militants captured and destroyed it, ending a history marred by brutality, including the infamous 1980 Tadmor Prison massacre by Rifaat al-Assad; a retaliatory execution of upto 1,000 inmates in the space of only 2 minutes. Closed in 2001, it was reopened in 2011 before its destruction in 2015 by ISIS.

Thor's Well - Oregon, US 📍 The well is essentially a collapsed sea cave that, during high tide and storms, transforms into a spectacular blend of waterfalls and geysers.

@face_riddler I didn't even know about it, I came across it while browsing the internet, so I looked up what it was because I thought it was a strange jellyfish... and then I found out it wasn't poisonous, so I thought of sharing it!

The Velella jellyfish are a species of hydrozoa that float in open waters. They are also known as 'by-the-wind sailors' for their ability to move propelled by the wind, thanks to the small translucent sail that protrudes from the water. They are not poisonous to humans and feed on plankton.

11-week-old bear cub is already climbing trees Black bears teach their cubs to climb trees when they are as young as six weeks old. They have strong, curved claws that help them grip the bark and branches of trees. So if a bear charges, do not run and do not try to climb a tree. That is just what prey animals do. Bears can easily outrun, outmaneuver, and outclimb humans. 📽 tahoetoogee

After feeling dizzy, a woman pregnant with twins, decided to lean on a pedestrian rail before she eventually fainted. In the mist of her passing out, her head had got stuck in between the rails, choking her to death. Bystanders tried to pull the bars apart but failed. Sadly, the woman later passed away.
