Great to be back in Erewash supporting a slate of fantastic candidates for the local elections with our friends @ErewashLabour. Thanks to those who made the journey up!

Congratulations to our hard-working members who were awarded 'Best Twinned Team' at Labour Conference. We mobilised dozens of H&FB activists and sent them to key marginals such as @ErewashLabour during the general election, making a crucial difference in six Labour victories!

The @ErewashLabour team and I have been out on doorsteps in Sawley, catching up following on from the election. We had some really productive conversations on everything from parking to the environment. Lovely to talk to people about the things that matter to them!

Greg is the first Labour councillor to represent Borrowash since 1999. He joins the 28 Labour councillors elected to Erewash Borough Council in 2023, and our two new Labour MPs voted in last month. We’re all excited to get working together to deliver the best for Erewash!

I had a really fantastic day out at the Ilkeston Heritage & Classic Vehicle Show today - incredible job by the organisers putting it together, and thanks to all the vehicle owners who made it so special. Always an absolute highlight of the year, everything went perfectly!

The other Derbyshire MPs and I have written to Derbyshire Councty Council to express our deep concerns regarding closures of care homes and day centres and to request a meeting to discuss the issue. Letter below 👇

Today, I asked my first question in the House of Commons, focussing on pandemic preparedness following on from COVID-19. I hope it is a very long time until the next pandemic hits us, but it is absolutely vital that we are better prepared for it when it does.

Out for a little walk this afternoon in Sandiacre to see some of the fantastic efforts put in for the Sandiacre Scarecrow Festival this weekend. Thanks to everyone involved for putting a smile on my face! 😁

On my first day back in Erewash, it was great to sit down with the @ErewashBC leadership @CllrJamesDawson and @R_L_Everett, as well as my colleague, Jonathan Davies MP (mid Derbyshire), to discuss local issues and Labour's plan for government. 1/4

When the van met the bus... We celebrated the penultimate day of the campaign with a visit from the Labour Party's campaign bus and the fantastic @leicesterliz, our Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. If you want change, go out and vote for it this Thursday.

Clocking a little earlier than usual in advance of the ⚽️ Reflecting on the campaign - it's been the most amazing, humbling experience being your Labour candidate. Remember though, change will only come if you vote for it, so go out this Thursday 4th July and vote Labour.

Another lovely day on the doors, and I took a break from the campaign to visit the Sawley Park Community Fun day, which was fantastic - thanks so much to the organisers for all their hard work!

Beautifully sunny but mercifully cooler on the doors in Ilkeston today. We were talking about our plan to boost careers advice and work experience for young people, with 1,000 new careers advisors and two weeks of high-quality work experience for all.

Really enjoyed debating with other candidates at today's hustings - thanks to the Ilkeston Life team for putting it on! Recording on their YouTube channel in the next day or so. We've also been knocking doors in Sandiacre, talking about Labour's plan to crack down on crime.

Fab day knocking doors in Shipley View, talking about Labour's New Deal For Working People, and how the election isn't a done deal yet. Headlines hide a tonne of uncertainty and we have to overcome Labour's worst defeat since the 1930s. Change will only come if you vote for it.
