@iluminatibot “And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”” Genesis 12:2-3 NASB1995

@bengentetw @sola_chad And to the point of those who are inside Christianity, many of those who witnessed the resurrection were unbelievers, such as His brother James and Saul of Tarsus who martyred Christians prior to his faith. Then many died because of their faith. Skeptics became martyrs.

@bengentetw @sola_chad People claim it cannot be true. There is more evidence of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection from over 500 independent witnesses who were interviewed. In a courtroom, that is considered overwhelming evidence. Then there are many more historians who wrote about it.

@bengentetw @sola_chad There wasn’t a printing press, but that really doesn’t prove the stories weren’t already put together and published later by writers. Outside of the Bible, since people claim “circular reasoning,” Josephus wrote about it in around 93 A.D. Revelation was written in 96 A.D.

@EricBMiller2 @sola_chad That is an assertion without evidence. And how do you know the reason why the stories of Mohammad weren’t made sooner because there wasn’t a printing press

@bengentetw @sola_chad This standard of evidence dates back to the time of the resurrection, within 3-5 years. Evidence is not subject to proving that a claim was true or not all by itself, but it supports a claim. You said there was nothing within the first 100 years after Christ was resurrected.

@bengentetw @sola_chad While 1 Corinthians was written around AD 53–55, most scholars—including skeptics like Bart Ehrman and Gerd Lüdemann—date the creed itself to within 2 to 5 years of the crucifixion (roughly AD 30–35). The Corinthian creed was dated to within 3 to 5 years. 1 Corinthians 15:3-7

@EricBMiller2 @sola_chad Well, we know the gospels were written in Greek because there are artifacts that happened during translation that can indicate that to us, but you still haven’t given me a source for the claim that the resurrection is historically attested too

@bengentetw @sola_chad The last book, Revelation, was written in 96 A.D., which was only about 60 years after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. We only have the ability to estimate how old these documents are. The fact that there was no printing press had something to do with not publishing them sooner.

@EricBMiller2 @sola_chad Muhammad performed many more miracles than that. The mass rising of the dead during Jesus‘s crucifixion is not atested to. And as a Christian act 100 year gap really shouldn’t concern you as most gospels are over 100 years after the events they talk about

@bengentetw @sola_chad Historically, Jesus’s resurrection is recorded within 3-5 years of the event. The gospels were written within 30-60 years (though I suspect much sooner in Aramaic, then translated and published in Greek later, but I don’t have proof of that, I admit). This is well within a lifet.

@bengentetw @sola_chad This simply is not true. Muhammad’s moon splitting was not documented outside of the Islamic belief system at that time. No Chinese, Roman, or Indian astronomical records identify this occurrence. There is also a 100-200 year gap between the writings of Muhammad and his life.

@bengentetw @sola_chad You can believe anything you want to. It’s not my responsibility to tell you what to believe or not. I can give you the facts and let you decide. Since Jesus did not document His own miracles, and they are historically verified, then they are more credible than Muhammad or mani.

@bengentetw @sola_chad It is relevant. Jesus has more evidence supporting His existence and even resurrection, but because that’s a divine claim, it’s more scrutinized. People will accept that He lived and was crucified, but they will not accept that He resurrected, or the countless miracles documented

@bengentetw @sola_chad To answer your question, no one actually knows. The ancient world did not have a printing press to make multitudes of copies. Most likely the original gospels and other historical documents were written much closer to the time of Jesus, but published a few decades later.

@sola_chad How many manuscripts were written within a decade of Jesus’s death and since you’re trying to convince atheist, you should use sources that atheist would agree with so the gospels don’t count because nearly every scholar agrees the earliest one was written at least 70 years after

@VivekGRamaswamy There truly is a fixation fueled by antisemitism. I have seen so much hate and blame directed towards Israel. I shouldn’t be surprised about it, as so many passages of Scripture give us the reasons why Satan would fuel hate for the Jews. Genesis 12:3 Psalm 89

@aaron_vdp @kaizen000000000 No, I’m telling you why I believe it’s true. 40-50 years after the event is merely the time it took in the ancient world for the gospels to become published. They didn’t have the printing press so it took scribes and writers to publish them. They were written much earlier.

@EricBMiller2 @kaizen000000000 You’re telling me a story of miracles from 2000+ years ago isn’t likely to be fabricated 40-50 years after the event? That’s news to me.

@aaron_vdp @kaizen000000000 The publishing was within 40 to 50 years of the event. That lines up historically. There are many other historical writers who wrote about it other than Josephus as well.

@EricBMiller2 @kaizen000000000 I’ve looked into all of that stuff and none of it convinced me, the writings are too far apart from when the event supposedly happened, you only have 1 eye witness account of the risen Jesus, but if you don’t want to engage, we can call it quits.

@aaron_vdp @kaizen000000000 The Bible explains explicitly how we are all corrupted in our nature. This corruption is evident throughout the world and explains the struggle between good and evil exactly as the Bible teaches. For example, Leviticus 26:14-39 explains how a nation degenerates into apostasy.
