The Montreal Canadiens are hiring Derek Lalonde to join their coaching staff as an assistant. He will be replacing Trevor Letowski, who's decided to step off the bench to have more time with his family. It's the Canadiens' desire to keep Letowski in the organization.

Saw @mndamico and @NCloutierTVA were both speculating this was the case. They were both correct; this is the case.

A little more on this filing; Dach was given a two-way QO by the Canadiens because he played less than 60 games last season and less than 180 over the last three combined. Generally, an NHLer gets a one-way QO.

Hearing Pavel Mintyukov and the Anaheim Ducks are getting an extension done. It will be in the Brandt Clarke range, which is 5 x $7.4M

Not surprising. Pretty standard stuff. Buys player and team time to see where they’re going. While it’s possible Dach gets less in arb than his QO, that’s not typical. That said, nothing was typical for Dach over the term of his most recent contract. We’ll see where it goes…
