The Minnesota Lynx are off to a (4–2) start, and their backcourt trio of Courtney Williams, Kayla McBride, and Olivia Miles has been a major reason why, with all three averaging 15+ points per game through those contests.
Williams has continued to thrive in her signature area, generating 50.6% of her scoring from the mid-range, where she’s averaging (8.0) points per game, the most in the WNBA. That comes as no surprise for the 11-year veteran, who led the league in mid-range scoring in 2024, and finished second in 2025.
McBride, meanwhile, is still producing despite an uncharacteristically slow start from beyond the arc. She’s averaging (1.5) three-pointers per game on 33.3% shooting, a mark that feels likely to rise for a player who has posted 2+ made threes per game in each of the last three seasons. Even with the early dip, her shooting gravity remains impactful. Her back-to-back catch-and-shoot threes in the Lynx’s most recent game helped turn a three-point lead into a nine-point cushion late.
Then there’s Olivia Miles, who has looked like the best rookie to begin the season. She leads all rookies in points, assists, and steals per game, and her poise has been just as impressive as the production. Her flashy playmaking has brought energy to Minnesota’s offense, but the way she carries herself stands out most. You’d think she’s been in the league for years. She’s also just 10 points away from 100 career points. 🪄
