1. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture today had the distinct honor of hosting Her Excellency, the Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang , as an intersection of leadership and stewardship in advancing Ghana's agricultural For EconomicTransformationAgenda. 2. As Minister, I had the privilege of presenting a summary account of the strategic initiatives and transformative efforts undertaken under my leadership to reshape the nation's agricultural landscape, focused on the pragmatic measures implemented by the Ministry, which constitute key interventions designed to vigorously combat persistent challenges such as substantial food import bills and pervasive inflationary pressures. 3. Central to these overarching interventions is the Feed Ghana Programme, a comprehensive initiative aimed at boosting domestic food production. The strategic strengthening of our National Food Buffer Stock and the deliberate expansion of irrigation infrastructure and vegetable production are pivotal components of our strategy to ensure a consistent and reliable food supply across the nation. 4. Another significant aspect of our discussion also revolved around the revitalization of the poultry sector, a crucial area for both economic growth and protein provision for our basic and secondary school children. 5. Concurrently, l also highlighted targeted initiatives designed to support vulnerable women, providing them with the resources and opportunities to establish sustainable livelihoods and ameliorate poverty, thereby bringing inclusive economic development. 6. The Ministry's investment in essential support services was also a focal point, emphasizing the critical role of soil and crop testing in optimizing agricultural yields and qually important is the Ministry's commitment to provide support towards development of value added chains through enhanced processing and marketing capabilities, thereby adding value to agricultural produce and increasing returns for farmers. 7. The establishment of Farmer Service Centers, a government initiative, represents a significant step towards modernizing agricultural practices. These centers, when completed will be equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and expert technical support, designed to empower farmers in every district. 8. I expressed, on behalf of the Ministry’s commitment and preparedness, under my stewardship, that The National Food Buffer Stock has achieved significant progress fiscally and storage wise and is now exceptionally well-positioned to actualize the President’s vision for robust food security. Through these concerted efforts, we are collectively building a more resilient, productive, and self-sufficient agricultural sector for Ghana, laying the groundwork for sustained prosperity and well-being for all citizens.

Today we celebrate 69 years of independence; a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and vision that gave birth to our beloved nation, Ghana. On this historic day, we honor the legacy of our founding fathers, led by Kwame Nkrumah, whose bold declaration that “the independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of Africa” continues to inspire generations. Independence is not only a celebration of our past, but a call to action for our future. As citizens and leaders, we must commit ourselves to building a nation defined by integrity, unity, opportunity, and shared prosperity. Together, let us renew our dedication to hard work, innovation, and service to country. Happy Independence Day, Ghana. 🇬🇭 May our nation continue to rise in strength, peace, and progress. #GhanaAt69 #IndependenceDay

1. I participated in the global policy dialogue in Rome focused on job creation in Africa through the Mattei Plan, a forum, which is a collaboration with the World Bank Group and Banca d’Italia, aimed to enhance core infrastructure and the business environment to boost African employment. 2. As Minister, l highlighted the essential role of agriculture in Ghana's economy, contributing significantly to GDP and employment, and outlined strategies for its modernization. 3. I emphasized the necessity of transitioning from traditional smallholder farming to large-scale production and agribusiness to generate sustainable jobs for Ghana's youth. 4. Our priority is to enhance agricultural productivity and market access by expanding irrigation, construction of 1,000 km of farm roads, and strengthening national food storage. 5. I affirmed Government's commitment to establishing Farmer Service Centers to provide mechanization services and encourage investment in agricultural technology through improved financial accessibility. 6. With the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda, the above and many others when implemented will transform food systems as a multi-sectoral effort, requiring coordinated action across infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and industrial development for sustainable growth and job creation.

On behalf of Government and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama @JDMahama, I signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GIDA VE TARIM University in Turkey, a significant step towards enhancing agricultural education and training for Ghanaian students. This collaboration will provide Ghanaian students with invaluable opportunities to pursue academic and professional training in agriculture through a new scholarship program. GIDA VE TARIM University, a renowned institution in agricultural studies, will offer scholarships for various agriculture-related programs, focusing on strengthening capacity and skills development within Ghana's agricultural sector. This MOU affirms Government's commitment to investing in the human and resource skill development of Ghana's agro-industrial sector. Through this MoU, the Ministry will facilitate the education and advanced training of Ghanaian students in highly skilled agricultural practices to build local capacity and serve as boon for the growth of the agro-industrial sector within the Ghanaian economy.

Yesterday, February 17th, 2026, I had the distinct honor of leading the Ghana Tree Crops Investment Summit and Exhibition, alongside His Excellency President @JDMahama. The summit provided a critical opportunity to reset and build Ghana’s green economy; a vision His Excellency the President is fully committed to realizing. The President is resolutely focused on positioning tree crops as structured, regulated, and investment-ready catalysts for Ghana’s sustainable economic expansion. Under my stewardship, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture is now equipped to coordinate and facilitate a spectrum of initiatives, from distributing advanced viable seedlings and modernizing agricultural technology to implementing farmer income enhancement programs and policies. I strongly urge investors, both globally and locally, to seize the abundant opportunities within Ghana’s burgeoning green economy. To our dedicated farmers, I encourage the adoption of advanced farming standards and sustainable agricultural models as these are the indispensable tools that will guide our nation from potential to prosperity towards the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda.

Earlier today, I visited the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to watch the Minister for Food and Agriculture, @EricOpokuMP, sign an MoU to officially launch the Akuafoɔ Anidasoɔ Digital Platform. This platform will create a database for everyone in agriculture farmers, buyers, and others in the value chain. Once you’re registered, it becomes much easier to get loans and funding from banks and financial institutions. Basically, the long struggle for agricultural funding is about to reduce. The project will start in the Northern Region, and if it works well, it will be expanded across the whole country. If you’re in agriculture, please take note and share this with others. This is a real game changer.
