@xan_desanctis I’ve lived in KY, IN, MI and FL. (Florida coastlines being populated mostly by big city yankees.) You can so immediately tell where you are simply by how people smile and greet each other, whilst even out for a walk.

I remember when I moved to NYC, a friend’s dad told me “Don’t smile at strangers on the subway, they’ll think you’re crazy or looking for trouble.” Apparently the lesson stuck.

I drove to Abraham Lake more times than I can count chasing this. Wrong light. Wind blew all the leaves off. Color not quite there. I started to wonder if I was chasing something that only existed in my imagination. One evening it all showed up at once. Some images feel earned. This is one of mine.
