Sad reality: Christians today have been catechized to disdain their cultural heritage. We’re told Constantine wasn’t great. The Crusades & Christendom were evil. The “Dark Ages” were real. All lies. We have been taught a false history of discouragement & disenchantment.

@TCSDisciple @LonghausBurning @Eric_Conn My bros, is this what you deal with on the regular?! It makes me think @Brian_Sauve , @Eric_Conn , & crew are closer to sainthood than I did before if there still so jovial dealing w/ such uncharitable men regularly. Keep up the good work making these women hysterical. God bless!

This might be one of the most cringe Jesus jukes of all time. And he has it pinned. Like he’s actually proud of this.

One of the most important things fathers can do is fill their home with great content. The Word of God. Biblical teaching. Psalm singing. Great books (Narnia, LOTR, etc). Great podcasts, audiobooks. Prayer. (This also means guarding against the media machine’s pig slop)

Godly fathers must create a rhythm of order in their homes. This requires constant diligence and intentionality. As @SBrownOnline recently pointed out, the sluggard is the man whose fence is in disrepair. Lazy men lead disorderly lives.

@ostrachan More like how to be a pastor at a woman-controlled boomer megachurch like Owen’s.

@ostrachan With the exception of "marry a godly girl," your blueprint for "new strong masculinity" aptly describes my 90-year-old grandmother.

@papajmiller2415 I’ve used them with teen boys. Very effective. Map app isn’t great, but good enough.

Putting a smartphone or tablet in the hands of your kids has got to be one of the most foolish decisions imaginable. You are allowing the enemy unfettered access to propagandize your kids. It’s as bad or worse than government education.

Working alongside your sons is one of the great blessings of productive households. The same is true about daughters in the home. Absolute glory.

The constant underhanded accusation from conservative Christian pastors that Christians who complain about the prevailing order of our time are lazy, joyless, victim-mentality, bitter complainers is just one of the more common ways the sheep are abused. Sin is in the heart. Do we need encouragement to turn from faithless despair and press on in the joy of the Lord? Yes. Do we need constant inquisitions and accusations? No. There is a difference, and the constant discouragement of conservatives who aren’t fake enough and politically suave enough to win, win, win in the name of Jesus is cruel and dishonors his name and people. “If you just had the right frame of mind you’d be successful” is a common conservative trope that has little to do with reality.
Jon Harris 🌲@jonharris1989

My whole life, liberals have always been motivated by a perpetual victim mentality, even when they control something. They’re always up against better financed corporations, deep seated bigotries, all powerful hate groups who can muster numbers. Meanwhile, they control most of the powerful institutions and are way better funded than the people they accuse of their devil words like racism and misogyny. They get political traction by comparing reality to their utopian pipe dreams. If only they were in charge it would be perfect, but they’re always foiled by some shadowy cabal. The conservative instinct was always to make do with reality, live content, take initiative, trust Providence, never claim victimhood, win instead of whine, tell the truth, don’t let complaints turn to bitterness, argue ideas. There used to be a popular bumper sticker: “How to Ruin a Liberals Day: Work Hard, Succeed, Be Happy.” I think about this sometimes.

I agree with a lot of that, Jon. Joyful warriors and all that. You've definitely shifted course, though. That's pretty obvious. I also don't attribute to you what Piper did or others, to be clear. And TBF, I think we all adjust course. I think it's more dishonest when people say "I've never changed." Sure you have. We all do. Nobody is static. I've changed many times (hopefully for the sake of sanctification, better application, and maturity). Covid was a shift. Etc.

Except I haven’t shifted, though I’ve seen a lot of shifting around me. The idea that I’m a pietist is laughable and slanderous. I’m against the perpetual victim mentality reinforced by rage baiting. We should be warriors, not blackpilled cynics about everything. We should be tools of construction, not merely destruction. If people want to read into that some form of pietism it’s on them.

Fathers and mothers, remember that when you are disciplining your children, God is using that to discipline you as well. Where have you let chaos and disorder creep in? What sins have you left unaddressed? Where have you been lazy?
