IF and it's a big if, the states joined in here is what this would look like. Federal gas tax is .18¢ a gallon. Add the state taxes and fees on top... Consumers in California could save 89.3¢ per gallon — the highest in the U.S. In Alaska with the lowest tax burden, it’s 27.4¢ per gallon. Everyone else falls somewhere in between. Let's do it.
