Argentina's Minister of Deregulation, Federico Sturzenegger, has unveiled a historic change to the Labor Modernization Law that completely transforms the relationship between workers, employers, and authorities in Argentina. This change involves making visible, for the first time, the true tax gap between the cost of an employee and their actual pay after mandatory tax payments. Through Article 39, which modifies point "J" of Article 140 of the Labor Contract Law, payslips will now include the full labor cost. Employees will see all payments made by the company clearly reflected, so they will know their full labor cost and then see how taxes, contributions or fees are deducted that explain the difference between what the company pays and what the employee receives, with a detailed breakdown of each item so that it is crystal clear how the tax burden borne by the employee is distributed.
