STAY OUT OF FIREFIGHTING AIRSPACE. Aerial firefighting is one of the most dangerous and time-sensitive operations. We must fly low, maneuver through rugged terrain, and make precise drops and communicate in real time to support firefighters on the ground. All of it STOPS the moment an unauthorized aircraft OR unauthorized drones enter the area because the risk to our crews’ lives is too great. When a drone or private aircraft is spotted near a wildfire, firefighting aircraft must be grounded until the airspace is confirmed clear. When our aircraft are grounded, the fire continues to move. In those lost minutes, the fire grows, threatens additional communities, and reduces our ability to support firefighters on the ground.
