My example of this is Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon, which has plenty of Arthurian knights, and no battles and no joists. It has one silly sentence where she gets the naval warfare wrong, but it has an excellent sequence about raising warhorses.

.@elizabethcollis let’s discuss process. I like the tight arcs of this story, from birth’s onset to the last paragraph, where the goal is met. But readers & writers are interested in your arc. How did it start in your head? 4 of 8 @allisonrwrites @intrepidusink

I am teaching two Half-Day Intensives, the day before this year's Pennwriters Conference. One is on flash fiction (the great laboratory to play in), the other on upping your prose. Don't have to be a member. PreCon Intensive - Pennwriters Inc.
