He gave these boys the freedom to express themselves in a way society never would've done. He is shown to be the only positive influence in some of these boys lives and actively fights on their behalf to express that. Seeing him as a villain completely misses the point.

Look at the title/poster.
It's a movie about a monster in the toilets. It knows this, and it doesn't deliver or expect you to want more or less than that.
It's not a cheap "joke" film made with no effort, either. It's just a toilet monster film, if you think that sounds fun.

Now this, this is just damn good.
Few characters. A lot of talk - and all terror. I do feel like it was bes in the first half, but Hugh Grant absolutely lords over the screen and is a fantastic character.
Highly recommended, and one the less horror enthused might enjoy, too.
