Team USA is really hard to root for. When we need a team to show we are not what our fucked up government is, they are literally doing military celebrations and treating games like war. Meanwhile every other team is having fun. Celebrating life and fun, not war and battle.

They love using the old clip of John Davidson calling his mum a ‘slut’ in the supermarket. Pretty sure he apologised to her after, though. Not because he meant to call her a slut, but because he knew it was not nice for her to have to hear it because of his Tourette’s. More importantly, he literally says “sorry, I’ve got Tourette’s” over and over again in the film about his life that he was at the BAFTAs for in the first place. But for some reason, he just can’t bring himself to saying sorry to the Black men he called the ‘n’ word on the biggest night of their careers. There’s a reason why he said the ‘n’ word to 2 Black men and not ‘cracker’ to the many other white presenters during the night, and why he hasn’t apologized after - and that reason is white supremacy. John Davidson has a disability, but he and his disability operate within a system that considers Blackness inferior to whiteness - and so his white man disability sits higher up in the hierarchies of both oppression and power, and his involuntary tic is therefore more deserving of empathy and defence than the pain caused by the anti-Black racism his condition forced him to partake in. If he wasn’t operating within a structure of white supremacy a. his involuntary tic would not have been the ‘n’ word and b. he would have immediately apologised for the harm caused. Just like he apologised to his mum for calling her a ‘slut’ and has clearly apologized to countless other people in his life.

Same reasons there's a disproportionately high suicide rate among Black men. Using suicide statistics to silence anti-racism is vile. All 3 men in this situation were badly let down by BBC choice to broadcast the incident, making John a target and magnifying the racist injury.

So on one hand you have a man with a debilitating disability that drives almost 75% of sufferers to consider suicide, and on the other hand you have two actors who were "embarrassed in front of their peers" ...what the actual fuck?
