I highly disagree. Creators/KOLs/Influencers/etc most of the time are expected to be the saviors and "revive" a projects' audience retention. They're the HOOK & Retention & Retargeting in marketing that can amplify campaigns if they're properly utilized. Not all people are the same. They have their strengths and weaknesses that need to be evaluated prior to onboarding to effectively curate higher conversions for the expected call to action from the marketing campaign. Think of them as a microphone to amplify your message. If the message isn't well planned and curated, the user conversion has a fall off in the UA funnel. If the call to action (Expected result) is to "Pump a token", top creators 99% of the time decline to work with those companies as they're expecting the moon while offering a pebble. Incentive structures do not align and risking their business to pump a token to extract value out of their user base is not profitable in terms of the time it took them to build that trust and outcome of ruining their followers trust in them. Even if the incentive is high, the "bribes" never compensate for the loss of trust from the consumers in the long term. Pay per performance deals are often offered but are not properly aligned to be a fair offering. - Yes the company takes a risk by providing the offer but it's often in exchange for services. - Ex: "We'll pay you $100k to promote, sell, and be the face of our unveiling of our NFT Sale that generates $1m in sales." Why would creators place their image, trust-ability, and add liability to their brand in the event the company doesn't perform as promoted. Years of hard work in order to generate 10% of a sale and ruin your audience base isn't worth the hassle. Another factor most companies overlook is onboarding creators and expecting their 'weakness' to be the selling point for conversions. - Marketing teams need to evaluate which ones are effective for certain areas of the campaign funnel. Marketing campaigns simplified into 3 categories - Hook - Story - Offer Hook - Attention grabbers directed towards your preferred targeted audience. Onboarding a creator that doesn't have your targeted audience is like marketing to toddlers to buy a lambo. Story - After you've gotten the targeted audience's attention, what message are you trying to have them retain? Why is the title of the video "Ecosystem Grants ENABLED!!! Are you built dif DEV? 🤘" While the message delivered to the audience throughout the video about you finishing your VC raise and they should apply at this link. It should be, here's my perks & what makes me standout, here's how we can help, what we're looking for, and why they need to apply NOW. (You already have their attention, you need to convert attention into action). Offer - Link / task / action steps needed and what's in it for them. The entire purpose of onboarding creators, paying them, coordinating with them, providing promotional material & resources is to make them do.... What? The offer needs to focus towards the expected result. They're your microphones. They can amplify your targeted message if the teams have a properly planned call to action for their expected growth metric. If your marketing team is paying for growth services, they should be well versed in the pros and cons of each phase accordingly to maximize ROI on spend, they need to properly plan and target before outreach to creators. "KOL" marketing is highly effective and if done properly can produce high multiples for ROI on spend.
