Has anyone seen any trustworthy research into what the general public thinks "Artificial Intelligence" actually means?
Do many people assume "AI" systems are Jarvis/Data level? What kind of mental model do people outside of the tech bubble have here?

@heidiacampbell @tandfnewsroom Tx so much, that's crazy; they haven't published anything in a year, which also does not bode well for the journal, or frankly @tandfnewsroom in general; it's not a good look for a publisher & reflects poorly on its system as a whole, i.e., avoid when possible

@eszter @tandfnewsroom They are functional but unfortunately have a bad reputation for being extremely slow at reviews & responding. I had a piece sit there almost a year before I could get a response that it was “under review”. The Journal of Religion, Media & Digital Culture is a good alternative.

posting here in case anyone else is looking for info re the Journal of Media & Religion by @tandfnewsroom; it's not clear whether this journal is operational despite their website; they don't use the online system & no info on paper status, 4 months & couldn't get a response
