@devaraj227 If they're actually smart (which I believe they are) there's game theory here which should work out for everyone, and if it doesn't Skynet just burns everybody, so I hope they're paying attention.

@devaraj227 @xenocosmography This sounds like the exact opposite of jewish conspiracies, that jews are willing to sacrifice their own to help the countries they belong to. I ask again, why is this a bad thing?

@EtchAic @xenocosmography Well, very highly placed Jews are agreeing that their fellow ethnics can take a ton of shit so that the US can push back against China.

@devaraj227 @xenocosmography Why would this not make you pro-jewish? You are saying jews are sacrificing themselves so that the US can have greater power on the global stage

The thing I see is that there already is a pretty well fleshed out plan to reassert US primacy on a global level. It's running hard, now Trump is in, and a big chunk of that is Blame the Jews. This has been agreed by the Jews, or at least very well-placed Jews. So US-Jew high level cooperation is already happening, albeit in a manner you might not approve of.

@devaraj227 @xenocosmography The Leave it to Bibi thing is about letting Israel do the vast majority of work and take the vast majority of damage from war with Iran, so that the US doesn't have to. If anything that seems more anti-Israel than anti-America

They knew that when Trump went into Iran, a move US thinktanks have gameplanned out decades ago, that a lot of shit would come back towards them. So the Jews agreed to jump in the way of the shit and just take it for a while. Brooking Inst 2009 paper (Which Path to Persia) actually has a chapter called Leave it to Bibi!

@EtchAic @Gooby334123 @isaacdecastro I understand why it can bother people, but it’s not fair to judge everything by a single word without knowing its context and history. For example, the city of León has been president of the Network of Jewish Quarters in Spain.

@mwsda @Gooby334123 @isaacdecastro The thing is though that it is celebrated, it's not just remembered. You have to admit that it comes off badly to foreigners, at the very least.

@Gooby334123 @EtchAic @isaacdecastro If it helps ensure it’s not forgotten, then yes. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

People here will often see a woman recount some sort of experience and snidely remark as to how it shows their stereotypes about women are true, but it’s really just confirmation bias. When a woman acts differently or when a guy acts the same, it is never counter-evidence.

@Gooby334123 @EtchAic @isaacdecastro It’s just a drink, no one is “killing Jews.” Keeping the name preserves memory. Spain granted citizenship to Sephardic descendants, acknowledging 1492. You can agree or not, in Spain there are critics too. Also, in Israel, Ben Gvir defended spitting at Christians as tradition.

@mwsda @isaacdecastro It specifically says it is about a drinking tradition in the screenshot. In your comment you said it is about a drinking tradition instead of violence, but that is what the original poster said too.

@EtchAic @isaacdecastro That screenshot has nothing to do with my point. I was talking about the origin of the name, not the interpretation you’re trying to push. The different theories about its origin are actually interesting, and some of them even contradict each other.

@isaacdecastro Sharing a Wikipedia screenshot without context is misleading. Today, “killing Jews” in León refers to a Holy Week drinking tradition, not violence. The name has problematic historical roots. History shouldn’t be erased but it shouldn’t be misrepresented either.

To be fair to Turkheimer, he did admit later that he didn't express his point very clearly and that his point was misunderstood. (I don't really think it matters that much because he's basically a genetic Luddite at this point, at least IMO.)

Nathan Cofnas@nathancofnas

Eric Turkheimer (former president of the Behavior Genetics Association) says race is skin deep because there's an "ethical principle" that says it must be so. Ppl sometimes accuse me of quoting him out of context. But no one has explained how the "context" makes it any better.
