PlayStation support has confirmed that a new digital rights management policy for the console is intentional, not a glitch. Starting with any digital games purchased after the March 2026 system update, your PS5 will require an internet connection at least once every 30 days to validate the license. If the console stays offline longer than that, the games simply will not launch until you reconnect. This change does not affect any titles already in your library. Setting a console as your primary system also will not bypass the monthly check-in.

The new Steam Controller has a problem for PC Game Pass users, it has no built-in Windows drivers so you can only use it inside the Steam app.
Game Pass games installed through the Xbox app are locked down on Windows 11. Steam can’t see them or control them, so the controller does nothing.
Want to play Forza Horizon 6 with your Game Pass subscription? You’ll have to buy the full game on Steam instead.
This is the same issue the old Steam Controller had years ago, back then, fans created a free tool called GlosSI that made it work anywhere on your PC.
That tool is still on GitHub and could get a quick update.
Valve could just release normal drivers and fix this for everyone, but they probably won’t, they want to keep everything running through Steam.
The community has solved this before, and it should happen again soon, so check GlosSI probably a fix could arrive soon

@lauriewired The value emulation brings imo is access. Nothing will ever compare to original hardware. But having access to said software is the next best thing. Sure, it would be great to have perfect input/performance parity but that can wait.

I’ve always had a bit of a pet peeve with the “emulation is good enough” crowd, and it really comes down to latency.
For many older consoles, although the raw FPS may be higher, the frame pacing can be ridiculously off compared to the original system.
When someone says XYZ game “felt better” on the real thing, it’s probably true! Not just nostalgia.
From what I’ve read, Dolphin (Wii/Gamecube emulation) is particularly good on the frame-pacing optimization side of things, likely helped by the competitive community. PCSX2 appears to be one of the toughest; the PS2 is a very tricky system to emulate!
To be fair, I don’t actually play games almost ever. But, if you’re interested in computer architecture, it makes a ton of sense. You’re literally trying to recreate the state machine + timings of multiple independent chipsets, interrupts, etc in a single x86 / ARM cpu!
