Many people ask this question. It depends on which step you are on: The fair system in the official example allows for waiting, but it depends on the timing. 1. Before commit You can wait for gas to drop, but only while the current commit window is still open. 2. Already committed You do not need to commit again. You should wait for the reveal window. 3. Reveal step You need to reveal during the reveal window. If you miss the reveal window, your entry may not be valid for that phase. 4. After reveal Wait for the phase result / winner selection. 5. If selected You can claim/mint when the claim step is open. Gas is only needed when you send the claim transaction. 6. If not selected You can enter a later phase.
