UPDATE: They have found Alec Luhn alive. He is awake and appears well. He seems in good condition. He is being transported by rescuers now. Thank you to all the amazing people who have done anything to help. There will be more updates as we know more.

Our father, Derk Sauer, has passed away. It’s an immeasurable loss, and no words can truly capture what a remarkable father and husband he was. He dedicated his life to defending independent Russian media. In his final days, he asked that people continue to support the free press

Op 22 juli is mijn vader, Wim Hartog, overleden. Wim had vele gedaanten, maar voor de buitenwereld was hij toch vooral dé vertaler van Konstantin Paustovski — die bezeten toewijding aan de literatuur en de Nederlandse taal heeft hem tot het eind van zijn leven vergezeld.
