@SherSherWarner That’s so much more stressful having a familial connection to the game! Congrats to Jon and the family. What a joy to watch.

@EvanDunfee You’re right, Evan! I don’t think I’ve ever been this stressed watching curling. I could barely breathe the last 5 minutes! So proud of the 🇨🇦 team, Especially my cousin Jon.

@Predamame The first thing I tell new athletes I start coaching: for the love of god please turn off auto splits when you’re on the track! (And the one time I had an athlete do each rep as a separate activity 😮‍💨)

The past 3 weeks I've logged some of the slowest runs i've run in a long time. In the 8:00-9:00 pace range. Yesterday, i ran one of the best track sessions i've done in a long time and enjoyed it. 6 x mile. 5:23 --> 5:06 (sorry, if this is hard to read. it's just proof)

This concept gets beaten to death when it comes to HR and pace, but I like the GOAT's reference point: have you stopped enjoying yourself? Deployed this before chicago and doing it now as we speak.

@MattIlich @KarmSumal @marissenmark @scienceworldca I read this as it having the 2nd highest percentage of photos of it being taken at night. Not that it has the second highest volume of night time photos. Either way, beautiful ‘temporary’ building that I’m glad we’ve kept and excited to see what its future has in store!

That’s fair. For how I search for a home it would be really useful for me, but maybe my experience isn’t reflected broadly. I also think it would give stratas slightly more pressure to fund their CRFs. For example you find a place online that you like but the strata fees are $800/ month. So you count it out right away. Find another place you like, fees are $400 so you go and tour it, request all the docs only to find out their reserve fund is vastly underfunded and they have a ton of work coming up in the next few years. Maybe that place with the $800 fees is actually the better bet. I just think at the very least having the CRF listed alongside strata fees would give people a fuller picture and wouldn’t be hard to do. The depreciation reports being publicly available I still think would add value for prospective buyers and current owners but I’ll concede that it’s maybe not worth the effort. Just seems like a good time to make changes with the mandatory depreciation reports coming in this year.

@EvanDunfee I don't feel it is difficult to find info and a competent realtor would make the buyer aware.

Would it be easy to make B.C. stratas have to include their CRF size as part of their MLS listing? What about making depreciation reports publicly accessible? Personally I’d like to not fall in love with a place again only to find out after the tedious process of putting in an offer that the depreciation report has THIRTEEN MILLION in special levies laid out over the next 10 years and the CRF is $250k. p.s @christineeboyle you should also gradually increase the minimum CRF contribution size from 10% Feels like with stratas no longer being able to defer the report there are going to be a lot of ugly realizations for 40 yr old buildings whose owners have refused to put money aside for their share of maintenance over the years.

@tiredofcons1978 Right, which you have to go through a whole process to get, like it’s downstream of deciding you like a place. But it seems like such vital info for deciding if a place is worth it or not that I believe it should be available in the listing.

Our XC skiers had many big races coming in dozens of spots higher than their rankings! Great result considering how much they get outspent on wax trucks which make a huge difference sadly. Same with sliding sports. Can’t compete when we are literally buying the top team’s hand-me-down sleds. Sadly core funding for the programs is needed for these sports, that’s part of the problem with winter sports… they’re expensive. And that’s before we start talking about the funding for athletes that keeps talent in the sport long enough to develop and reach their peak. All that is to say, it’s better to focus on the athletes themselves than their results. Each and every one of them has the power to be inspiring. While BC may not have produced any medals, you can be sure that athletes from across this province will be going home to their local communities, maybe their former schools, and sharing their story, their passion, with a new generation who can dare to dream big. And I think that’s awesome (I also think that that sort of community volunteering should be a mandatory component of any sort of funding we get, but different this tweet is long enough already!)

I tell people my Tokyo 2020 medal is a complete lie because we weren’t in Tokyo and it wasn’t 2020, and that usually gets a small pity laugh if nothing else! Haha First question of the press conference was: how did you deal with the crazy heat today? Dawid and Jonathan both said that it wasn’t too bad… I said I guess that’s why I finished 3rd 😂🥵

Almost every Canadian Olympian/ Paralympian has received support from @CANFUND at least once in their career. I’ve been grateful for their support and if anyone is wondering how they could possibly help, it’s here! Coolest thing is they’ll tell you which athlete your donation went towards helping. It’s like adopting a turtle, if you then got to watch the turtle compete at the Olympics or Paralympics.

Canada won four golds at Beijing 2022, the least since Lillehammer 1994. No golds after 8 days of Milan-Cortina 2026. Federal sport funding last increased in 2005 and Olympic legacy from 2010 helped Canada to 10+ golds in 2010, 2014 and 2018, then it's gone right back down.

In our case we all gave impassioned defenses of the value our event had (to the like 3 media in the room paying attention), to the point where the moderator told me after that we made her tear up. I just wish the other two had been allowed to do so in their chosen language. Least they could have been allowed.

@EvanDunfee @dmrider At the 1998 Games, I interviewed Annie Perrault live after she won gold in short track. After a few questions in English, I decided to ask her what it meant to her - in French. She began to answer & started to cry. The two official languages of the Olympics are English & French.
