Today is publication day for my book, Shamanism: The Timeless Religion. To celebrate, here are some of my striking clips of shamanic rituals that I came across while working on the book:

From Kissinger's World Order about America's shifting foreign policy under T. Roosevelt. Holds great insight for today's shifting foreign policy & flirtation with new imperialism or as America has previously conceived it, planting our flag in foreign soil for the good of mankind.

"Tradition matters because it is not given to societies to proceed.. as if they had no past and as if every course of action were available.. They may deviate from the previous trajectory only within a finite margin. The great statesman act at the outer limit of that" -Kissinger

@_StevenFan @the_wilderless Good point. I don't know what the 'untangle' option looks like, but I assume that community is required, and a tech co or charity, if executed well with heart and a good team, can create a similar level of community.

We're only 5 years away from every Baby Boomer being over retirement age. In many ways, what we're seeing right now seems like an anarcho-Xer's version of idealism trying to play dress-up with Baby Boomer's ossified socio-political dominance. Xers, by all intents and purposes are in their influential phase of life.

To a mathematician who wants to take the mantle of Terence McKenna's novelty theory: Study financial arbitrage & how that dynamic relates to the incentives of novel social commentary on social media. The use of phrases and words that are plucked from those on high would be a great starting point. Phrases like "Mind Virus" and "Trump's [Insert superhero group]" on the right and "Party of Joy," "Party of Democracy," or "democracy on the ballot" on the left and how those phrases generate "engagement" on social media over time could be new ground. Thought being, phrases become charged and likely spike in usage and the response from their use. This shows an incentive for regular people and "media" personalities to use the phrase fast and often, which likely causes fatigue and lack of engagement, which in theory would seed the swinging of the pendulum. You could probably track through Post WWII media how the same issues start on the right and end on the left or vice versa and could make a data-based argument about how novelty is conserved in socio-political dialogue. If there is promising findings, you could possibly make a data-driven argument by following a few dozen pundits and political figures that the arbitrage of words and phrases is incentivized and compare print media, TV, and social media as rhetorical environments of monetary or social incentives.

@the_wilderless Everyone's doing it, they just forget a week later. Problem is each seed has an optimal watering frequency and the ubiquity of cheap dopamine makes for a collective environment that is anti-good-seed-watering from a habit-forming perspective.

Remember when posting fresh, left-leaning revolutionary ideas got people more attention across social media? It's wild how our desire for novelty demands the swing of the pendulum.

Does Post Malone & Beyonce hopping into Country finally kill the authenticity of the genre? Is it accepted yet that once a genre IS the Main Stream that the actual grit or pain at the source is completely watered down by the masses moving in from the attraction of fame & fortune?

Twilight Zone scenario: In four years, Trump "humbles himself" and runs for the senate. Still runs rallies. Openly participates in the primaries for the next Republican nominee. Brings the national attention to the Senate. Runs the show from the Senate via, "I got them elected."
