Augusta Diaries (Thur) -Definitely happy with my 71 today. I felt better today than yesterday and overall felt good. Tomorrow might feel way worse but that’s part of golf and life. Feelings are fleeting and it’s important to not be too caught up in them good or bad. -I hit some really good shots (chip on 9,10, tee shot 12) some poor ones (tee shot 11). Overall, I’m happy with how I managed this course. I missed it in all the right areas and feel like I played it the right way. -There are some new greens here. 1,8,15,16 (I think). They were def a bit firmer on that first bounce. I didn’t notice it much the last few days because of the rain but there def was a big difference in how those holes played. -I got an amazing break on 13. Ripped a drive, had 176 front 183 pin, hit 7i, and it didn’t draw enough and hit the bank and rolled into the creek. I was about to figure out where to drop for my 4th when my caddie saw our ball. There was a clump of grass that was a bit longer and was holding my ball up a little bit. Ball was maybe 1/4th in the water but felt like there was enough grass so I could chop it out. I was trying to hit it past the pin but barely got to the front edge and stayed there. Made par, def got away with one there. -We were put on the clock for a few holes on the back and honestly there’s no worse place than the back nine at Augusta to get put on the clock. The wind keeps switching and you can’t switch clubs. On 15, when Mike Weir hit his shot, it was 15 yds of help, when I hit I could feel the wind starting to switch and went calm. Cam hit his shot and it changed to maybe 10yds of hurt. 25yds of potential difference. He hit a decent shot but the ball landed short and rolled in the water. (We weren’t that slow and the group behind might have been even slower) -Cam’s swing is sick. Love the pause and Weir has a really nice short game. Knows how to bump it here which really isn’t easy because of the mow of the grass. -Scrambled eggs had lots of butter in it, the way I like it lol 8/10. Oatmeal today didn’t have the right oat to water ratio in the lockerroom… 6/10. Food in the lockerroom is slightly different than the regular clubhouse food but I’ve been eating at the clubhouse to eat with family. -It’ll be windier tomorrow. Let’s keep it in the red and keep playing solid!
