🎥😱🏆A review of #OneBattleAfterAnother by Samuel Arjona: In an age that has lost the capacity for synthesis, the film refuses to impose a false harmony and embraces fragmentation as a method. Here, form does not merely accompany content: it embodies it. Every aesthetic decision is a moral stance. The film is wounded because the world it observes is, and to pretend otherwise would be a sham. The plot, reduced to its essentials, can be stated without difficulty. A group of characters moves around a violent conflict, a persistent and ill-defined war that never quite takes shape and which, precisely for that reason, permeates everything. There is no decisive battle nor a final victory; each confrontation begets another. Relationships, jobs, loyalties are subordinated to that logic of permanent combat. The title promises not epic, but repetition: there is always another battle waiting. The story does not move towards a resolution, but turns in on itself, accumulating wear and tear. The film One Battle After Another depicts a world saturated with demands, conflict and judgement, yet almost devoid of grace. Everyone is struggling, everyone is trying to justify themselves, and yet no one finds peace. A review by Samuel Arjona: evangelicalfocus.com/screens/34157/…

My piece in @Evan_Focus: "While Swedish society has become more religiously diverse, public debate is marked by uniformity and consensus thinking. “Tolerance” and “multiculturalism” shift meaning depending on how closely beliefs align with secular norms." evangelicalfocus.com/books/34102/sw…

🇸🇪🇬🇷🇫🇷 Europe shows a wide range, like the rest of the world, when asked whether people view their societies as morally good or bad. Whilst the Greeks and the French are unsure whether they are good people (55% view their neighbours as morally good, 44% do not in the former case, 55% to 43% in the latter), the Swedes are the most optimistic, with 88% describing their compatriots as morally good compared to 12% who see them the other way round. (...) When it comes to abortion, there is a huge divide in Europe between those who consider themselves Christians and those who consider themselves non-religious. In Spain, 40% of those who consider themselves Christians are against abortion, but only 8% of those who say they have no faith are against it. The picture is very similar in Poland (38% vs 9%), Italy (34% vs 9%) and Greece (34% vs 1%). Full article: 🖥️ evangelicalfocus.com #Morality #Survey #Europe #Trends

🇱🇧💥⛪Located on the eastern outskirts of Beirut, the seminary is hosting about 180 people on its premises, a quarter of whom are children. “Despite the sounds of drones intensifying in our skies and smoke from the bombings rising over Beirut, we continue to witness glimpses of Christ’s love at work: a love that shapes, softens, and unifies”, they explain in an update on the impact of the war on their website. The displaced persons welcomed by the Christian organisation come from the suburbs of Beirut, the Bekaa area, and the south of Lebanon. “In the midst of uncertainty, we see them gathering hand in hand to assist the kitchen staff in preparing meals”, they say. “Join us in prayer that during this season of hardship, just as these meals nourish their bodies, the word of God may also nourish their spirits”.
