The skills you’ve built will allow you to use AI to an extend no newcomer will ever be able to. Look at it from different angle - cheer it because it will make you build stuff faster. Don’t view it as writing code is no longer valuable. View it as launching an end product is easier than ever and because of your skills you are far ahead than any author of those social media posts.

real talk: if this roblox shit doesnt work out idk what I'm going to do with my life dude. I've spent so long learning code and building skills. Seeing AI progress every single day and consuming that social media really takes a toll on your mental health. How do you guys feel about all the shit going on in the world today

@DavidinGaming It became significantly easier but in order to make even semi-complex gameplay you need deep architectural knowledge of how to design systems. Games that don’t require that are already filled on Roblox but demand on them is lower every day - too saturated

Feels like AI should be making Roblox scripting way easier by now… but what’s actually working?

Today CCU on the platform is lowest it has ever been since the start of the year. Every week it's been getting lower. Some argue it's just the time of the year, but I think it's because there hasn't been anything new on the platform. All games are the same brainrot games with sole goal of 'cash grabbing' rather than creating something inspiring. Every new game on front page is actually nothing 'new' at all - just a different theme of same game. However, I think Roblox acknowledges that. Their last updates seem to be shifting the focus on games with more 'depth' to them - hence new recommendation signal (DPTR) and Today's Picks upgrading to Standout Games. Roblox finally started their shift of direction to "power imagination". If you had an idea that would introduce something new and unique - this is the best time to go and do it. Platform could be favoring such games right now and players are tired of same repetitive gameplay.

Hot take: 100 CCU with a real, polished game will make more money than 1000 CCU on some copy-paste brainrot. CCU looks cool on screenshots. Revenue comes from trust. If you copied someone’s game, why would players spend in yours instead of the original?

A lot of people panic because of this but I actually think if you are old school dev this new era is the best ever. A lot of content will get filtered out soon and the bar to make it wil be higher than ever. Supply and demand is shifting and when there is too much supply there will be new demand and that’s where high quality games show up.

Alright, I’m just going to say it. I’m sure it’ll make people mad. My prediction: By the end of this year, the majority of games on Roblox will be made by AI or at least heavily assisted by AI. It’s already happening, it’s just a matter of time until AI gets good enough for someone who doesn’t know how to program to be able to make a game. Once that happens the amount of games that are going to release on Roblox every day will exponentially increase, and it’s going to be more and more slop. There will be significantly more competition and trends will move much faster than they already do now. Overall, I think it’ll increase the number of users making money on the platform, but decrease the average amount each developer is making. To try to look at the positive side, in my mind there are two things: - AI will allow anyone to make games without understanding gameplay loops or retention drivers, thus people with little game design experience will likely fail, so traditional developers will still prevail - This may actually push traditional developers & studios on the platform to focus more on higher quality games that will stand out compared to the “steal a”, “simulator”, “obby” slop that developers using AI will flood the platform with even further than it already is. I see starting in the second half of 2025 to the end of 2026 as a transition period for Roblox. Where everything just kind of sucks and everyone’s trying to make slop to generate as much money as possible, but then I feel like this much competition will push the truly good and creative developers to make high-quality, well thought-out, long-lasting IPs. Think a Pokemon or Hello Kitty, on a Roblox scale. We’ve seen it happen, there are some truly good and creative games made by Roblox Devs that have turned into life-long IPs: - Dandy’s World - Piggy - Rivals - Creatures of Sonaria - Dragon Adventures - Adopt Me - Dress to Impress - Forsaken and so many more. I’m not a fortune teller, so I could be entirely wrong, but I don’t think the doomer take of “Roblox will purely be a slop engine that isn’t profitable” is the correct take.

So much slop lately and it’s easier to make than ever That means we’re entering a new phase - slop won’t cut it anymore When everything looks the same, nothing stands out Each slop cycle is getting shorter

Not enough devs understand the real importance of good monetization. A game with 2k CCU makes ~650k Robux/day (~$900k/year). Another game with ~9× the players makes less. You could be missing out on 10× your revenue.

@Saulcava1 Then make quality slop. Obviously AAA will never work but using established gameplay and adding to quality and even purpose to it could go a long way. These games are designed for cash grabbing only. Imagine if you add soul to them?

@w47936 @CoolDogRblx it looks like he was trying to take advantage of a person who is new to all this. and in terms of the deal there wasn't even any legal binding. im actually glad the owner did not sign anything

@84_maciek Exactly. What I'm trying to say in plain words is that 99% of your users will be infringing and you are calmly allowing it without holding responsibility. My question was legal opinion if such platforms can be allowed. Each of your user could practically be DMCA-ed

"Users are solely responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights to use Outputs. RoThumbs makes no representation that Outputs are free of third-party rights." so i assume you mean i should also add that they must have inputs here, also gemini doesn't have a set goal, users can use the tool exactly for what it is used here, i dont advertise making copyright infringing thumbnails but just roblox thumbnails

Could I get some opinion on this from people who knows copyright laws well? I see a lot of thumbnails that are 1:1 copy with clear AI edit to change the theme. Wouldn't this be grounds for DMCA? #roblox #robloxdev

@84_maciek Google clearly says that users are responsible what they submit and you must have legal right to edit it. Their service is not designed for that specifically. Yours is. It gives opportunity without holding responsibility.

@Everix_ how would i enforce that, i'm sorry but if you uploaded the same reference to google and asked for the same thing you would get a similar result just worse in quality and less robloxy. are they also allowing infringement then?

@84_maciek This doesn’t address the issue. Your app allows users to upload copyrighted thumbnails they don’t own. You are shifting liability to users and it doesn’t change that the service allows infringement. Requiring only original inputs would but that isn’t enforced.

@Roblox_RTC This is a great update, it will fix a lot of issues both in terms of safety of players and copyright protection of devs. I hope UGC scene will get some improvements too
