It feels strange that this is a hot take these days, but if you feel like you are a good person that cares about their community, it's not wrong to consider becoming a cop. If all the people with good hearts avoid that oath, then problematic people take the job. Please understand I have more experience watching good people become corrupted on the job and acknowledge it is a big sacrifice more than ever to expose your good nature to a naturally evil environment, but only you know how vulnerable you are. There are good cops who remain good cops for several decades and retire as happy grandparents. There are good cops that become bad and go to prison or locally known as a piece of shit. There are bad cops who I want replaced that don't care about us but last decades And there are no cops that start bad and become good The force needs good people with good hearts that are strong against the terrible things civilians and the job will do to you, and your service will be unconditional, and poorly rewarded in a material fashion. You have to actually love the people, and find it a great honor to serve them no matter how many times they hurt you. Despite what people say, there are such things as a good cop, and you can prove it with no shame. This is one route where you can love your community and have an important purpose as a person. It's okay if you want to be a cop
