"... it heightens a sharp and nagging anxiety about what might lie ahead" theguardian.com/commentisfree/… Those 'why I can never die' sentiments that many parents have are not likely to diminish anytime soon on the basis of these reports.

Great to see Puffin Lodge opened in Ballycastle. The facility was delivered by @pfsg_nireland for pulmonary fibrosis patients and their families and it will give people the opportunity to have a break in very pleasant surroundings.

Great to see some of the staff from local businesses and the @PoliceServiceNI at the Makaton taster session at my constituency office in #Larne today. Being able to use even a few signs will help the town centre be more accessible to everyone.

The mighty David Tennant speaks powerfully about why we ALL need to protect our NHS: "The NHS is probably the thing that makes me proudest to be British. Proud because it's a national kindness." @David_Tennant RT & go to yournhsneedsyou.com to help. #YourNHSNeedsYou

To the smart arsed woman who said to my #autistic son “run forest run” as he went on a run past @queens_dalkey about 30 minutes ago, I hope you’re really happy with yourself. You are really lucky he would not let me go there with him and identify you. He is so far superior to you

“Autism can mean genius or an IQ below 30… (&) can mean highly verbal or nonverbal”. The term “profound autism” has not been embraced by all but we do need to find accepted terminology to subgroup, just to provide appropriate support & to improve research spectrumnews.org/opinion/viewpo…

Children generally don't like getting punished. They’re more likely to feel sorry for themselves rather than sorry for what they did. Here's a better way to respond to misbehavior, explains @tomlickona bit.ly/3Ru0Dj3

“If a plant were wilting we wouldn’t diagnose it with “wilting-plant-syndrome” – we would change its conditions. Yet when humans are suffering under unliveable conditions, we’re told something is wrong with us, and expected to keep pushing through.” amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

@Fiona_Clarke_ This raises important issues. I prefer stress and coping plans, completed with rather than for the people we support, when possible, rather than seeking to 'fix' the persons behaviour. The focus should be on what we can do differently to support individuality & reduce stress.

A behaviour support plan that reduces restraint by 50% to 3 times a week is NOT an example of a good or successful approach, although can be touted as such. PBS is not appropriate for neurodivergent people and such data/outcomes is evidence of that.

Back to school can be a stressful time for everyone. Especially those with ASD or other cognitive differences. It's important to remember that behaviour does not happen in a vacuum. #PBS #evolveapc
