When I was an intern I called a nephrology consult. I rambled on for probably 5 minutes telling the history of the patient, medications, social history etc... until I was cut off by the nephrology fellow "just give me the f*kn the lytes"

@legalstufff It’s totally normal for the partner with a norma to have feelings about us being MIA. And it’s even ok for them to voice it. Just not with anger or petty and impossible demands. “I miss you, is there a time/way we can connect soon?” 👍🏻 “You NEVER… If you loved me…” 👎🏻

And I think people underestimate how demoralizing it is to just be trying to survive in your job, already feel tired and pulled in different directions, and have loved ones browbeat us about our work demands as if we also didn’t wish there was an easier way most days. All the snide little comments cut like 1000 knives.

I have spicy opinions today. But about this relationship scenario…I’m actually on the dude’s side. Attorneys (and others) often have inconvenient demands on our time. Not because we’re chasing clout or whatever, but because our employer or a case demands it. When we’re stuck in a case, we’re stuck having to follow thru until we can get unstuck (not always easy or possible). My husband is usually a cool guy and supportive. But on Sunday morning, I was in bed reading a 15-paragraph “urgent” email from a client. I was already annoyed. Then hubs opened his eyes and sarcastically said, “what a surprise, you’re already on your phone reading emails.” I came this 🤏 close to telling him to get the fuck out the house my job primarily pays for and don’t expect much alimony. It’s easy as the beneficiary of another person’s earnings to complain about the time it takes to make the money. If you don’t like someone’s work hours, go find the person with a chill job and easy hours which may not pay as much.🤷🏻‍♀️

Dating scene is so cooked. This girl just told me she was seeing this lawyer for four months. He was always either on the phone at dinner or would cancel the dates due to work. When she called it out he said “okay, well, it’s either that or we can split the bill.”

When I was 7 months pregnant, my husband and I went to a party and they had cherry pie. I brought one slice home specifically for myself because at that stage of pregnancy I thought about food constantly. I put it in the fridge, went to bed, and fully planned on eating it the next day. The next morning I woke up already thinking about that pie. I walked to the kitchen excited, opened the fridge, and the container was empty. That man ate it. Not even after a few days. Not after asking me if I still wanted it. This happened within hours. I just stood there staring into the fridge trying to process what I was seeing. Then I started crying so hard he thought something actually terrible had happened. And honestly I still defend my.......

@MarioNawfal Why would shipping companies reroute because the Strait of Hormuz is blocked? Vessels can get to the U.S. and back to their origin without using the Panama Canal across the Atlantic

🇺🇸🇵🇦 The Iran war just turned the Panama Canal into one of the most expensive shortcuts in global trade. Because the Strait of Hormuz is basically locked down, shipping companies are completely rerouting. They’re buying more oil from the US and Latin America, crossing the Atlantic, then jamming it through the Panama Canal to reach Asia. Demand is so insane that some companies are paying millions in premium fees just to jump the line and cross faster. DW News

🚨🇺🇸🇨🇳 The U.S. and five Latin American nations just issued a rare joint statement against Chinese pressure on Panama... Bolivia, Costa Rica, Guyana, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States released a coordinated declaration calling out China's "targeted economic pressure" and recent actions affecting Panama-flagged vessels. The statement frames it as a sovereignty issue and pledges hemispheric solidarity with Panama. The trigger is the Panama Supreme Court ruling on the Balboa and Cristóbal terminals, two of the most strategically critical port facilities at either end of the Panama Canal. China is reportedly retaliating against Panama through commercial pressure on Panama-flagged shipping, which carries a huge share of global trade. The strategic context is much bigger than Panama. The U.S. has been quietly assembling a coalition to push back on Chinese influence in Latin America for over a year. Today's statement formalizes that effort with a specific, named adversary and a specific, named flashpoint. Bolivia signing on is the most surprising piece. Bolivia has tilted toward Beijing for years on lithium and infrastructure deals. Their inclusion suggests Washington is making real progress reasserting hemispheric coordination. The Panama Canal control question has been a Trump fixation since his first term. China's grip on the Balboa and Cristóbal terminals has been the subtext of every Trump statement about "taking back" the canal. Today's joint declaration is the diplomatic version of that posture, and it has six countries publicly behind it. The Iran war exposed how stretched American military capacity is. The Cuba and Panama moves this week show the administration isn't waiting to recover. The chokepoint strategy that controls global trade is being asserted everywhere at once, from Hormuz to Malacca to the Caribbean to Central America. Trump is playing the geopolitical version of speed chess on multiple boards simultaneously.

Dilemma. What do I do with these embroidered pillowcases ? They were given to my mom at her wedding. They were embroidered by her grandma, my great great grandma. My mom never used them because /she “couldn’t ever replace them” after her grandma passed. She kept them in the linen closet in the house I grew up in. She gave them to me when I got married and yes, I’ve also kept them unused in my linen closet for 20 years. I don’t want to get rid of them (I won’t). Do I use them or keep them safely store me for future generations to not use, either?

@Stemulite23 @txsportsdoc The surgeons professional fee doesn’t just cover the time in the operating room. It covers: evaluating the patient preop, reviewing their records, planning the operation, all post op care in the hospital, and follow up visits in the clinic.

Perspective matters. What is getting a second chance at life worth? The Cardiovascular Surgeon who made this happen was the lowest paid in the whole process. Probably 4-6 hours of surgery and maybe was paid a few thousand dollars. That CT surgeon trained for at least 15 yrs to be able to do this. The system will pay this same CT surgeon more, to perform varicose vein procedures in their office. In fact, performing bypass surgery won’t pay a CT surgeon enough to maintain a private practice. The hospital on the other hand, was likely paid several hundred thousand. Thanks for sharing your story Ed. Hope your next chapter in life is even better☺️👊

@luxemiaa It is ok to ask people to trade seats. But you should be offering a seat of equal or greater value AND be gracious/accepting if they say no. And the right thing to do is sit in your assigned seat and THEN ask to trade once everyone is seated.

This girl said: I once booked an aisle seat on a flight because I like being able to get up without climbing over people. Simple. Intentional. Paid for. I get there and someone’s already in my seat, sitting all comfortable next to their friend like they planned it that way. I pause, double-check my ticket, then politely tell them that’s my seat. They hit me with, “oh… would you mind switching so we can sit together?” Now mind you… this wasn’t confusion. ---
