“Peter Obi supporters should come and enlighten me on how he intends to resolve insecurity.” This must be a most useless take on the app so far.

I saw reports that Atiku Abubakar has won the ADC presidential nomination for 2027, and this is my take.
At this point, Atiku is becoming a permanent figure in Nigerian presidential politics. Every election cycle somehow brings him back into the conversation.
But the bigger issue is what this says about Nigeria politics generally. Despite constant complaints about “old politicians,” the opposition still keeps returning to the same familiar names. That shows how much Nigerian politics still depends on elite networks and political structures rather than fresh leadership.
Personally, I already had my reservations about him politically, but I completely lost respect after the Deborah situation. The moment that stood out for me was when a tweet condemning the killing was reportedly deleted and there were claims that he was not the one who posted it after backlash from the other side.
That moment said a lot because leadership is also about moral courage, especially in tense situations. Nigerians can disagree politically, but many people expect leaders to stand firmly against violence without sounding pressured by ethnic, religious, or political reactions.
That is part of the trust problem in Nigeria today. People feel politicians adjust their principles depending on which audience is angry.
Still, politically, Atiku remains strong because he has nationwide structures, long standing alliances, and years of experience in the system. Whether that is enough for Nigerians in 2027 is another conversation entirely.
