pain woke me up out of my sleep. feeling really sick. didn't even realize it was MadVillainy day. my hands aren't working very well the past few days but I'll tell a few behind the scenes stories later today about MV, how I introduced DOOM to Madlib's music & work as a producer, and how I introduced Madlib to DOOM, IRL, based on a promise I'd made to him when I interviewed him for Mass Appeal magazine (in print!). Madlib's uncle is jazz legend John Faddis, my Pops is jazz legend Buell Neidlinger - I'd been friends with Otis/Madlib for decades when I conducted that interview as I am a member of the extended Likwit Crew and he grew up in Ventura County with some of the Likwit OGs. Despite a pretty large number of whitebois some of whom were not even THERE for any of MadVillainy or the forming of the group MadVillain taking credit for my work... After decades passing now the truth is pretty widely known. I did not receive proper credit as the sole A&R of the record, but they listed my name in the credits as a project consultant although there's never been a single penny paid to me for my work. My voice is the Lady talking on Fancy Clown, as Allah's Reflection. DOOM used my voice as an instrument a few times, like on Voices Part 0 and Voices Part 1 where I read from El's Holy Qu'ran at his request. Recently the MadVillainy LP was certified gold by the RIAA. I have never been sent MY gold record - but nearly everyone else involved with the project did except for my fam LORD SCOTCH who appeared as Lord Smog, and my friend PHIL THE AGONY, who is the voice on America's Most Blunted. Haven't talked to Ag in about a year so hopefully he has been given his by now. It is rare for a woman to be involved in Artist & Repertoire. When I was involved in DOOM's career and a part of his family, for many years, he didn't make very many moves without me. I was his sounding board and the voice of reason when he didn't want to do something, the voice of business when he wasn't feeling it and would rather have spent a few days and nights reading books, smoking trees, drinking Gray Goose, painting Graffiti and not writing or rapping - but I knew I had to be the one to regulate and tow the hard line sometimes. Me and Dumile had a years-long routine of good cop/bad cop with labels, executives, other rappers, producers, promoters, talent buyers, agents, venues ... U never knew which you were going to get or from whom but I was an integral part of an elaborate plot of his during the creation, recording and release of: MF DOOM - MM...FOOD KING GEEDORAH - TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER VIKTOR VAUGH - VAUDEVILLE VILLAIN MONSTER ISLAND CZARS - ESCAPE FROM MONSTA ISLAND MF GRIMM - THE DOWNFALL OF IBLYS MF DOOM & MADLIB - MADVILLAIN - MADVILLAINY There have been VERY few runs like that in Hip Hop, ever. DOOM never had another run like that. MadVillainy is one of the most critically-acclaimed albums in the history of music, not just indie Hip Hop. It'll go platinum, in a bit more time, now that DOOM has went back to where his Brother went. I nearly lost my life helping to make MV. I lost my marriage. I lost the momentum in my career. I lost an incalculable amount of money. They tried to discredit me and destroy my works. I never went silent. I didn't kow-tow to the bullshit. I stood on my square for over 15 years and kept telling the truth of how it actually happened. Now eg0n's on tmz for stealing DOOM's rhyme books, Madlib's left the label and is no longer under their management (and I am SO HAPPY FOR HIM & excited to see and hear all of his future works). Sadly DOOM is no longer here with us, but his music shall remain forever and MadVillainy is perhaps his greatest work - although the MadVillainy I ENVISIONED and the one I negotiated for had both DOOM and MADLIB producing beats apart and together for the full album, with DOOM handling most of the rhyming plus special guests and Madlib's personas rhyming if they so desired. U didn't get THAT album not because of me but because the label was cheap and tawdry. And this is why they turn the volume of my voice down every time they reissue this album. Go back to the first pressings if U don't think it's real... I had to go back and check a few versions before I realized they're defiling DOOMs vision and creation by doing so, and making the record a little less great every time they do it!! I'm now one of the lead characters in a best-selling non-fiction book about MadVillainy penned by Will Hagle - who only interviewed me because the stories all those whitebois were telling didn't add up - he knew it and realized there was more to it than their fallacies - so he found me and I decided what better way to tell the story than to have it printed in a book that'll be translated into dozens of languages and published all around the world.. The truth is out there. Fathers, when U raise your daughters, U can play MadVillainy for them and tell them with absolute 100% certainty - A WOMAN MADE THAT POSSIBLE. A WOMAN DID THAT!! Happy Women's History Month and this is part of HERSTORY. Happy MadVillainy day to all who celebrate. Even a pyrrhic victory is a victory nonetheless. Showing me the money would make it sweeter, but money isn't really my favorite currency. I prefer great music. I prefer TRUTH.

Ride on shooting star - the pillows (2000) the pillows debuted on a major label in 1991 as a three-piece Japanese rock band and, over 35 years, established a distinctive presence within the Japanese rock scene. After the departure of founding leader Kenji Ueda in 1993, Sawao Yamanaka took over as the central figure of the band. Through various transitions, the group gradually solidified its signature sound. From the mid-to-late 1990s onward, they came to define themselves through a stripped-down yet tightly structured guitar rock style, shaping the image most closely associated with the band today. Their music is generally built on comfortable rhythms and melodic sensibilities, though they also possess many fast-tempo, stylish tracks. They have cited the influence of overseas bands such as Pixies, and are known to admire fellow Japanese rock band Thee Michelle Gun Elephant. In 2000, their recognition expanded significantly when numerous songs were featured on the soundtrack of FLCL. The strong synergy between the series and their music helped broaden their fanbase. While consistently releasing albums and singles and maintaining year-round touring activities, vocalist Sawao Yamanaka also remained active through solo projects and label management. However, following their performance on January 31, 2025, the band officially announced their disbandment, bringing 35 years of activity to a close.
