I’ve complimented a lot of Chelsea sales this summer… But I’m not sure I get the decision to loan Jackson with an option. The amount of games they have to play, they now have 2 strikers, one of whom will pickup a lot of minutes in other positions, for a 4 competition campaign. If Liam Delap gets injured, they look short of a physical, line-stretching no.9. If someone was offering a £50m+ fee for Jackson, given how much he cost and the fact he’s now 3rd choice, I’d get it… But Chelsea now look fairly thin up front, still short at centre back and without a title winning quality goalkeeper.

Chelsea have got very, very lucky that Al-Nassr are willing to spend €30m up front on a player that cost them €52m. 25 years old, passed around so many of Europe’s biggest teams and now playing in Saudi? Such a shame given his early Benfica promise.
