Over the last 60 years, no driver has managed to achieve a Grand Slam at Spa. The only driver in history to have done so is Jack Brabham in 1960 We’ll see if that changes this weekend

At Spa in 1998, we witnessed the worst start in history, with a pile-up that forced as many as 11 different cars to retire

In Spa 2010, everyone was on slick tyres during Q1 when it started raining heavily on the final section of the track 🐐Which driver was the only one who had no trouble keeping his car on the track? Michael Schumacher

@FormulaPace Obviously, they can't activate the SM there for safety reasons What I mean is, since they can't activate the SM, those areas automatically become charging zones because there's an SM right before and after them

@F1BigData I think the more simple explanation is that having straight line mode in those areas will result in massive accidents because they are not straights

As for this year at Spa, it’s obvious that they’ve turned both Eau Rouge/Raidillon and Blanchimont into charging stations Since active aero is closed in those areas, energy deployment is less efficient there, so the obvious decision is to recharge in those areas and deploy the energy immediately afterward, where there is a straight mode zone
